Due to popular demand, I have written a spoiler file for those items which are labeled "good" or "excellent" by the game that do not have obvious effects. Herein can be found the answers to the frequently asked questions about Cloaks of Aman, Rings of Ice, Weapons of Westernesse, and Dragon Scale Mail. Note that NONE of the items listed herein are artifacts. Also, this version also contains the spoilers on the level feelings, which were posted to the net a while ago, but never stored... "GOOD" ITEM SPOILERS FOR ANGBAND(Unix, v2.4frog-knows) v1.1 Revisions from v1.0 ------------------- o Added ratings spoiler o Added object ratings o Added Missile Weapons of Might and Accuracy (forgotten in v1.0) o Split Slay Weapons into each category, and likewise with Resist Armor RATINGS (taken from Sean Marsh's post several months ago) ------- Any object or monster found out of its depth has a rating associated with it, as well as any treasure pit. The total rating for any level produces (provided that you have stayed on the previous level for a certain time) a message such as "You have a good feeling." The following is a summary of the ratings for objects, monsters and pits: You get the message "You feel there is something special about this level." when there is an artifact, a player ghost or (sometimes - see below) a monster pit. The other messages are dependant on a total found by adding up all the values for monsters, objects and treasure pits. They are as follows: Total rating Message >100 "You have a superb feeling about this level." >70 "You have an excellent feeling that your luck is turning..." >40 "You have a very good feeling." >30 "You have a good feeling." >22 "You feel strangely lucky." >15 "You feel your luck is turning..." >10 "You like the look of this place." Ratings for pits: Diagonal pits, and others of a similar size (7 in total) +5 The large pit with two triangles of traps top and bottom +25 The large alternating wall and hard monster pit +35 The large pit with circular centre +30 The large pit with lots of individual rooms (not symmetrical) +25 Any monster pit if it is not already a special feeling +10 A monster pit is a special feeling if random(dungeon level cubed) is less than 25000. This means that between 0 and 1500ft, a pit will definitely be a special feeling. At 2000ft, the chance of it being special are about 1 in 2.5, at 3000ft about 1 in 8.5, at 4000ft about 1 in 20.5, and at 5000ft about 1 in 40. Ratings for monsters: For uniques, the rating is (depth found at minus current depth)/2. For non-uniques, it is the same but for any individual creature, the rating cannot be above 15. Ratings for objects: For each object out of depth, (object level minus current level) is added to the rating. (See Tom Swingle's items.spo for object levels) In addition, most good items(listed below) will add an extra amount to a level's rating, dependant on the object; see the Rating field of the object in question for the exact amount. NOTE : When a number is given in the to-hit/damage fields, this is the BASE. The game can, and often will, create objects with higher enchantments than this base, but never lower.
