GalaxyView V2.0:
================
This program is a turn viewer for Galaxy (standard, GalaxyNG or Blind Galaxy),
a game of interstellar war for several players. Features include a map with
detailed information, a ship designer, a move editor, a battle simulator and
online help. The ability to automatically detect which planets are owned by
which players distinguish this program from other turn viewers. See the online
help for more information.

Requirements:
=============
- Windows 95/98/NT
- Turn reports from a standard Galaxy game, from GalaxyNG or
  Blind Galaxy
Note1:
   For standard Galaxy and GalaxyNG:
You have to set the following options in your first move:
Option TWOCOL off (this is the default)
         Option UNDERSCORES on
   For Blind Galaxy:
Don't set the option showopts to false, GalaxyView needs the options
      section in the reports.
Note2: Put turn reports for different games in different directories.
Note3: Turn reports in Unix format will be automatically converted to DOS
format. The original file will be saved as <originalfile>.bak

Installation:
=============
1. Extract all files from the ZIP-archive to a directory of your choice.
2. Start the program, press the button 'Create new configuration' and
   follow the instructions.
Note: If you start the program the first time, it needs some time to create
an intelligence file for every turn report.
Note2: The file names of your reports has to be of type
       <name><number>.<extension> where <name> and <extension> are strings
and <number> is a number starting with 0 for turn report 0.
       Example: turn0.txt

Deinstallation:
===============
1. Use the program GalaxyViewUnregistry to delete all GalaxyView informations
   from Windows registry.
2. Delete all GalaxyView files manually.

History:
========
V2.0
. On most lists, there is now a context menu to create commands. For
example, pressing the right mouse button on a planet in the planet list
displays a menu with commands specific for this planet. Now you can create
your orders planet by planet and group by group.
. New tool chart to get a chart displaying several statistics for every
     race and all turns.
. Configuration files no longer supported. Configurations are now stored in
Windows registry, which is much more flexible than files. You have to create
new configurations for all your games (see help on configurations how this
can be done easily). Note: In former versions of GalaxyView, you could start
GalaxyView with the name of a configuration file. Now, start GalaxyView with
the name of a configuration (no path, no extension).
   . Map enhancements:
. New button to display all planets in the map with their size.
. New button to display all battles in the map with their size.
. New button to display planet defence/weapons and number of ships at
       planet
. New menu item `Check move` in Move Editor to find errors in the move.
. The Move Editor can now put the move to the clipboard and can get it from
     there.
. `Scan area` in Move Editor can now get the coordinated from the map by
clicking on the map with the mouse.
. New tool Text Editor for writing emails directly to other players. It can
handle Unix style text files, too.
. Search for race can now find planets, where the player has ships, too.
. Calculation of ETA in the Move Editor now works for fleets also, which are
created in the current move (and doesn't exists already).
. Button bar will be divided into two parts, if main window is too small.
. Text search (f.e. in the Report section) can now search case sensitive/
     insensitive.
. Menu items now have their appropriate bitmaps.
. Bug fixes in 'Develop planets' algorithm. Now, no CAP is taken from
planets, which needs it themselves and no groups are loaded on planets,
     which don't have any cargo.
. Mouse position indicator don't hide planet information on 800x600 displays.
. Thanks to Sheldon E. Smith for his help on the online help.
   . Minor enhancements
   . Minor bugfixes
V1.72 (15/02/99):
. Scan area command in the Move Editor can now use a rectangle or a circular
     area.
. New special commands in the Move Editor to intercept all groups at one
planet with all groups from another planet or to send all groups from one
     planet to another planet.
. ETAs are now calculated for intercept commands also
. In rare cases, groups at planet list contains some groups twice. This bug
     has been fixed.
   . Minor enhancements
   . Minor bugfixes
V1.71 (01/13/99):
. Quick release to support GalaxyNG 3.2 reports.
. The Move Editor was slow for large moves because of the automatic
recalculations of ETAs. Now, these calculations are done faster.
You can now switch off these calculations.
   . Very minor bugfixes
V1.7 (01/04/99):
. GalaxyView now can automatically create commands to load cargo onto
transporters and send them to planets, which needs this cargo. Use this
to develop your planets (mostly) automatically.
. Now, every table in GalaxyView can be sorted by every column! Just press
a mouse button on the first field of a column. The left mouse button
     sorts ascendant, the right descendant.
. New section "Tips" in help. Please read this even if you used GalaxyView
     for a long time.
. Some speed ups (f.e. display of planet view list)
   . Minor bugfixes
   . Minor enhancements
V1.62 (11/13/98):
. Optional command line parameter. Use a configuration file as a command
line parameter to start GalaxyView with this configuration initially.
. The 'send fleet' command in the Move Editor now calculates the ETA like
the 'send group' command. When moving commands with the '-' and '+'
button or when inserting new commands, all ETAs will be recalculated.
. When using the 'Design a ship type' command in the Move Editor, you can
now take over the current values from the Ship Designer.
. The ship types list in the Ship Designer can now be limited to already
     realized designs
. The group list in the Battle Simulator now contains the group ID for
     easier selection
. In the Battle Simulator, you can now take over all groups from the
currently selected planet in the list 'Aggressor' or 'Defender'
   . Minor bugfixes
   . Minor enhancements

     planet in a specified area.
. Bug fixed, which occured, when using the 'Planet view' formular
   . Minor bugfixes
V1.6 (10/05/98):
. New button 'Show turn overview', which shows all important things, which
     happened in the current turn
. Options can now be changed (use menu item 'Options' in the 'System' menu).
You can change number and range of distant circles and visibility of
button bar and mouse position display
. Display is centered now. Zoom works like expected.
. If you get your reports from a unix system, GalaxyView automatically
     convert them to DOS format
. Configuration now also include Game name, race name and Password. So there
is no need to type in this information in the Move Editor every turn
(password is encrypted in the configuration file).
. New column 'development' in the Planets formular.
. New command 'load cargo and send group to a planet', which is a
combination of the L and S command, can be used in the Move Editor

zoom and window size (good idea Sheldon!)
. Now using Delphi4. Resizing of formulars now works better.
   . Minor enhancements and bugfixes
V1.55 (08/04/98):
. GalaxyNG: In version 3.1, Frans Slothouber decided to change the order of
the 'Unidentified Planets' list. This mixed up the owner information of
home planets in GalaxyView V1.54. This is fixed, but autodetection of
planet ownership information is weaker than in other GalaxyNG versions.
. Blind Galaxy: In same cases, planet ownership information was incorrect.
     This has been fixed.

Important information for GalaxyNG V3.1 and Blind Galaxy players, which uses
============================================================================
GalaxyView V1.54 or a prior version:
====================================
Blind Galaxy:
-------------
In some cases, planet ownership information is incorrect in Version 1.54 of
GalaxyView or prior versions. To correct this, do the following:
1. For every report, delete the *.gvi files (Warning: you loose all planet
ownership information, you changed 'by hand' with the Planet View tool.)
2. Start this version of GalaxyView and create a new configuration!
GalaxyNG V3.1:
--------------
In turn 0 of Standard Galaxy games and GalaxyNG games prior to version 3.1
the order of the 'Unidentified Planets' list is the same than the order of
the 'Status of Players' list. So, we know all home planets of all players.
In GalaxyNG games version 3.1 only, the order is mixed up. This version
of GalaxyView can cope with this situation. If you used a version of
GalaxyView prior to 1.55 with a GalaxyNG game version 3.1 or higher, you
have to do the following:
1. For every report, delete the *.gvi files (Warning: you loose all planet
ownership information, you changed 'by hand' with the Planet View tool.)
2. Start this version of GalaxyView and create a new configuration!
