News........

While in Waco this year (March 23&24) Bob Childs had out his wheels of doom. The wind
was gusty up to 25mph. Bob had out a huge quad of some sort. He was hoping and zipping
around. When I decided that I wanted to feel the PULL.

Bob handed me his kite and off I went. One gust took me about 5ft off the ground.
That was fun. In South Padre last year I managed to travel about 20ft in that 35mph
gusts. Not that this is something I encourage. Just then, a gust caught the kite while
gaining altitude and caught me off gaurd and off balance. I rose about 15ft into the
air. Still not in control of anything the kite collapsed and down like a lead ball I hit
the ground.

Killed me. Dead!

I stay connected to the net via a new connection better than isdn.

No actually, I managed to realize what I did was not very smart and safe so I gave the
kite back to Bob. I did manage to take back a big souviner on my left knee. (ouch) But I
did survive.

The point here is not to impress you with my physical ability on kite jumping but to
inform you about another individual who had an accident. For it is difficult for me to
ask for sympathy for myself. Abel Ortega had a similar accident, I don't think he was
trying to jump but his accident left him a bit more fractured than skinned.

Abel suffered a fractured ankel while flying a foil. I just thought I mentioned it since
I know Andrewl probably didn't know that bit of information.
