Are there any kite magazines in existance? Surely there
are, but I can't seem to find any at the local bookstores,
magazine stands, etc. If you know of any, please e-mail
the titles and information on how to get a copy.

Thanks,

There are two comercially available magazines I know of:

     American Kite
published by American Kite Company 12400 Loma Rica, #5
     Grass Valley, CA 95945
     (916) 273-3855

     Kitelines
     published by Aeolus Press, Inc
8807 Liberty Road, Randallstown, Md 21133
     (410)922-1212

There are aslo several good foreign publications if you read a foreign
langauage. I understand the German publication Drachen (spelling may not
be right) is very, very good.

The two American publications are only published on a quarterly basis.
Almost all kite retailers cary these magazines. They are also available
>From most mail-order retailers.

I've always been very disapointed we don't have a monthly magazine. Seems
strange that almost every hoby/sport you could name has a monthly
periodical and we don't. You can go to the local drugstore and buy no
fewer than four monthly magazines on model airplanes, two on model trains,
one on basket weaving and one on professional wrestling, not to mention
magazines on skiing, flying, racing all manner of vehicles, ,jogging, and
transcindental medetation. Nothing on kites, however.

I'd also be remiss in my recommendations if I didn't suggets you join AKA
and receive their newsletter Kiting, which I find very enjoyable. There's
also a new publication I just received called Kitebuilders International
Journal. This looks like it's published on a quarterly basis. Order by
calling (610)395-3560. This little publication looks GREAT for those
interested in building.
John A. Gabby Jr. (916) 678-1815 Evenings

Think kindly thoughts.

The first issue 1/95 of "Drachen Magazin" German Edition, sometimes called
"Drachen" or "DraMa" was published on 30 January, 1995. Seven more issues
will follow this year being published every six weeks.
"Drachen Magazin International" english version is due shortly.

Drachen is now available in English. I do not have an email address for
them but the fax number in New Zealand is (64)(4)476 7260 if you wish
to contact them. A one year subscription to the US (airmail) is $32.
First issue is 2/95

Subject: Kite Magazines

I'm looking for some Magazines about Kites. I went
to the local Magazine shop but they couldn't help
me.

Are there any Dutch or German kiters who can point
me to some magazine which I can get in the Netherlands.
I'm able to read Dutch, German or English magazines but
I wouldn't subscribe to a Magazine from a foreign Country.
In stead of being subscribed I rather pay a little bit more
and get it from the local magazine shop.

I understand that the second issue is heading toward the press
right now. Things were delayed by the unfortunate passing of the
magazine's art director. Emotionally and logistically, a death
in a small staff like that is difficult to overcome.

Let's wish them luck and look forward to the next issue(s).
