MyReminders 1.0
===============

Introduction
------------
Do you sometimes forget appointments and meetings, or forget important details
about them like things you need to prepare beforehand or things you have to bring?

Do important dates like birthdays and anniversaries of friends and family sometimes
slip out of your mind, only remembering them afterwards and feeling guilty about it?

Working on an assignment or project and you need to keep notes and reminders about them?

Or maybe you just need an alarm clock that plays the music of your choice!

Whatever the case, MyReminders software can help you do something about it.

MyReminders is a handy freeware utility wherein you can set an alarm to run at a
designated date and time, at the same time displaying a specified message of your choice,
or notes that you have entered beforehand. Additionally, you can configure MyReminders to
display the message/note on specified dates before the designated alarm date, thus reminding
you about the upcoming important date, whether it be a birthday (you can type a message that
will remind you to buy a gift two days before the actual date) or a project deadline (you
can type some project notes that you can update anytime, and this will be displayed everytime
you turn on your computer). The alarm date and time, the user-typed notes, and the additional
settings are collectively known as a reminder. You can set up to 3 reminders at a time, and
as soon as an active reminder goes off, you can set a new reminder in its place. You can also
clear any of the reminders anytime you want. Also, you can specify the alarm sound to be any
sound file that you have, be it an mp3, a midi, or a wav file. MyReminders software is like
a hi-tech interactive Post-Its and sophisticated intelligent alarm clock rolled into one!

MyReminders is an extremely small application (the executable file is only 64KB), with an
easy to use interface. Furthermore, MyReminders is a genuine freeware product that will
not annoy you with advertising, intrusive spyware components or nag screens.

System Requirements
-------------------
Windows 95/98/ME/XP

You must have the VB6 runtime files installed in your system.
Chances are, you already have them (whether you know it or not).
If not (if MyReminders displays an error when you attempt to run it), check
the MyReminders home page about details on how to get the VB6 runtime files.

Installation
------------
Run the setup.exe file from the MyReminders.zip file.
The setup program will prompt you for all additional steps.

How to Uninstall
----------------
You can uninstall MyReminders by using the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs.

Instructions
------------
1. Start the program by clicking the MyReminders icon from your Start menu.
MyReminders will initially launch in the system tray. Click its icon
(the round clock icon) to display the main screen, or right-click the icon
   and click Restore.
(Minimize other applications that may obscure the MyReminders screen.)
   --also--
If you have any active reminders, MyReminders will launch automatically
everytime you start Windows by putting itself in your startup folder.
As soon as there are no more active reminders, My Reminders will
remove itself automatically from the startup folder.
(The alarm date and time, the user-typed notes, and the additional
settings are collectively known as a "reminder". See introduction above.)

2. Set any of the reminder settings.
   a. Input the alarm date and time in the corresponding fields.
   b. Type the messages/notes that will be displayed.
   c. Choose any of the additional settings. You can choose to have
the message/notes to also be displayed on system startup either:
one day, two days, or everyday until the scheduled reminder date.
   d. Click the Set Alarm button to set the alarm, or click the Clear Alarm button
to turn off the alarm and clear all of that particular reminder's settings.
   e. Repeat above steps for other reminders (You can have up to 3 reminders
      running simultaneously).

Note 1: You can always edit and update the message/notes of your reminders.
This is most useful when keeping track of the progress of projects that
you have set reminders to, or when you have to add to things-to-do lists
that you have added to MyReminders.

Note 2: You can select the audio file that will serve as the alarm sound.
A midi file has been included with the package and is the default sound
that will play when the alarm runs if you don't specify another one.

   The File menu:
   ..............
*Click Reminder#1, Reminder#2, or Reminder#3 to go to the specified
reminder, to view, set, or change the corresponding settings.
*Click View all Settings to see all the settings for the 3 reminders.
*Click Set Audio File to choose the sound file that will serve as alarm.
   *Click Exit to exit program.

   The Help menu:
   ..............
   Will display this README.TXT file.

The context menu that appears when you right-click
on the MyReminders system tray icon:
   ....................................
*Click Restore to launch the main screen.
*Click Details to see all the settings for the 3 reminders.
   *Click Exit to exit program.

   Examples:
   .........
At its simplest, you can set Reminder#1 to ring an alarm later in the day,
with the message "Call Honeybunch!". You can set the alarm sound to play
your (yours and Honeybunch's) theme song.

On the other hand, you can have 3 reminders running. Reminder#1 can be set
to run everytime you turn on your computer, displaying "Have you taken your
vitamins yet?". Reminder#2 is configured to alarm on the morning of a
much anticipated romantic date (say, two weeks from now), additionally
reminding you to "Buy roses, and get a haircut!" two days before the date
(Just make sure Honeybunch doesn't catch you!). Reminder#3 keeps track of
an important upcoming appointment, where you can update the notes everytime
you think of a thing you need to prepare beforehand, which MyReminders will
then remind you of one day before the appointment date.

Limitations
-----------
Each reminder message/notes can only be up to 2048 characters.

The audio file formats that are supported to serve as the alarm sound are:
*.mp3;*.mid;*.midi;*.rmi;*.wav;*.au;*.wma;*.aif;*.snd;*.aifc;*.aiff
