You can set Show All Shopping Items option to yes or not in the shopping list section of the references window. 
In the Shopping list window, right click the mouse on the shopping item list, select the menu item Show Simple. The generic shopping items should be displayed only.
If you cannot find a shopping item, you can use generic one instead.
Try to use the right click of the mouse and you may find an undocumented feature.
It is better if you ensure that the withdraw amount is correctly recorded in the purchase window. They can be checked against your bank statement later.

You can create your own frequent used shopping items by set Show All Shopping Items default to no and set those wanted shopping items to be basic ones.

The reference window allows you to set defaults and setting which enable to customise Shoppingmate.
Set the backup period and the backup keeping period settings to what you want so that Shoppingmate will do the backup and remove old backups for you.
As you change data in the database, the database file can become fragmented and use more disk space than is necessary. Periodically, you can repair your database to defragment the database file. The repaired database is usually smaller and runs faster.
Set the repairing period setting to what you want so that Shoppingmate will do the backup of database and then repairing database periodically for you.
