Note: To save download time the VB6 runtime files are not included in this archive. You can get the VB6 runtime files all over the Internet, including Simtel.net

If you get an error message when you install this version of Phone Tag and first try and run it, go to Simtel.net and download and install the file, available as: simvb6-5.zip
You can also go to http://www.screenlock.com/phonetag.htm and download the full version containing all required files.

Typically people download and install Phone Tag, then plug in their existing telephone numbers to see if they translate into anything interesting. Many numbers do, in fact, reveal interesting letter combinations. For each seven-digit number there are 2180 possible combinations (and that's not including usage of the Q or Z). If you scroll down through the combinations and come up empty don't despair.

You could always use the 'Word Converter' in Phone Tag (Options Menu) to find a word/number you want, then call your service provider and see if it is available. There are many other things you can use Phone Tag for, such as selecting an easy to remember number for your new business or home.

You can also plug in numbers that you call often to find easy-to-remember words. I was first interested in putting together this program while in college. I told a study partner what my phone number was. The next day he said "Did you know that your phone number is really easy to remember? The last four digits translate into 'BEER' ('2337' try it yourself!). Needless to say, I was happy to later tell people my phone number was (my 3 digit prefix) + BEER.

Try plugging in phone numbers of people or businesses you don't like and see if there are any combinations that apply. :)
