Mika started his motor racing career at
the age of six, driving 50cc karts. By the
age of nine he was contesting the 100cc
Finnish Championship and became Finnish
Champion at the age of 11.

It was a title he was to win a further
four times. In 1986, Mika completed his
National Service - the 11 months he spent
in the army precluding him from any
serious racing.

RACING CAREER:

1987 - Despite a limited self-financed
       programme, Mikas first season in
       single-seated racing finished with
       runner-up trophies in the Finnish
       and Scandinavian Formula Ford 1600
       Championships. 

1988 - Having attracted sponsorship, he
       embarked on his first full season
       of Formula Ford 1600 competition,
       becoming European, Scandinavian and
       Finnish Champion. He was on pole 10
       times, won all 14 races he entered
       and set a new lap record at every
       circuit. 

1989 - British F3, 14th
1990 - British F3, 2nd, 6 wins
1991 - Japanese F3000, 22nd
1992 - Japanese F3000, 15th
1993 - Japanese F3000, 17th
1994 - Japanese F3000. 2 races (Lotus), 0 
       points
1995 - 17 races (Tyrrell), 5 points, 5th. 
       (5th Italy, Australia, 6th Japan)
