Cool Edit 1.52

To install Cool Edit, unzip it into a new directory such as C:\COOL.  Then
create an icon or link to it in Windows.  For example, from File Manager,
select COOL.EXE and drag it into the Program Manager group of your choice.
Alternatively, you can select File->New from Program Manager, select Browse,
and then find COOL.EXE and choose it.  If you are using Windows 95 (tm), go
to the Cool Edit directory and drag COOL.EXE to your desktop or to the folder
of your choice.

NOTICE TO REGISTERED USERS OF PREVIOUS VERSIONS:  You will need a new number
to use version 1.52 if you registered at version 1.50 or below.  E-mail your
name and address to syntrill@aol.com to request a new number free of charge.

Following are the new features, enhancements, and bug fixes since version 1.51:
* Higher quality (and faster) sample rate conversion, Echo Chamber, and Filter
* Amiga IFF file format support
* CD Player titles compatible with Windows 95 CD Player titles
* New rulers added to main display and Frequency Analysis window
* Spectral View displays higher dynamic range for more detail
* Bugs fixed concerning scripts

Following are the new features, enhancements, and bug fixes since version 1.50:
NEW FEATURES
* Added support for Microsoft ACM file formats
* New Zero-Crossing function (F4) finds the zero crossings

ENHANCEMENTS
* Added A-Law, mu-Law, byte-reversed, and unsigned formats to PCM raw data 
  format
* Added optional header to PCM raw data format
* Added a 5-bit IMA ADPCM compression for higher quality ADPCM at 25% more 
  space
* Record level meters with logarithmic display and right-mouse config menu
* Record level meters made larger, and display on playback and record as well
* User defined number of Undo levels
* Functions work on entire waveform when no selection is made

BUG FIXES
* Undo Music wasn't working properly
* Invalid undo directory is handled properly now
* Paste Special gave "not enough memory for undo" when not necessary
* Toolbar help popups do not disable keyboard anymore
* Moved location of 'fact' chunk in WAV files for more compatibility

To Register, pull down Cool Edit's Help menu and select "Registration Form".
This Help topic explains how to register; to see the form itself, click on the
words "Registration Form" at the bottom.  You can select the entire form with
the mouse and then copy it to a text editor or word processor.  You can choose
from among 3 registration levels:

$50  - Basic Registration  You will receive a registration number that will
       unlock your copy so you can use any function at any time.

$100 - Preferred Registration  You will receive a registration number and
       automatically receive shareware updates as they are released.  You are
       also placed on our preferred list which will entitle you to other
       goodies and special offers in the future.

$25  - Lite Version  You will receive a registration number turning your copy
       of Cool Edit into Cool Edit Lite.  If you have no need for all the
       fancy effects offered by Cool Edit, then register at this level.
       This version has all the features of Cool Edit except for the
       following:  Compressor, Delay, Distortion, Echo, Echo Chamber,
       Envelope, Filter, Flange, Noise Reduction, Quick Filter, Reverb, and
       Generate DTMF Tones.
