Well, that fixed it for me.  Come to think of it, I think it was
because of a problem like this that I put X11R6.1 ahead of openwin in
my path a year ago or so....

Ah, but I think I have a better solution: moving
"/home/petersen/include/xpm.h" to "/home/petersen/include/X11/xpm.h".
That should do it.  Yawn!
