 That's good news.

    Jens-Ulrik> But with my init file where I set

    Jens-Ulrik> (defvar Info-directory-list
    Jens-Ulrik> Info-default-directory-list) (setq Info-directory-list
    Jens-Ulrik> (cons "/home/petersen/info/" Info-directory-list))

 Will you comment those off, make sure there's nothing like it in your
lisp/site-start.el or lisp/default.el, then Isearch for `info' in your
~/.xemacs/options.el, and see what the settings there are--- make sure
they are sane if they exist.

 Then, use Options->Customize->Variable and set
`Info-default-directory-list' and, if you need to,
`Info-additional-directory-list'. When Info starts up, it will
perform the initialization of `Info-directory-list' for you.

 I hope that helps... OH! The directories in
`Info-default-directory-list' will be used in reverse of the order you
specify them in, until after you've applied the patch I will try to
send by tomorrow. (I've not made the change yet.) So you may have to
set them again one more time. For now, place the directory containing
the "dir" you want to be toplevel LAST in the list.

 I just sent a NEWS entry that I hope explains things well enough.
