It wasn't the porting of cperl-mode.el, it was in 19.14.  It was the
matter of making it the default perl mode.

Please.  Start from Sudish's patches to it.  I don't think it should
take too much effort to get the rest of it functional.  I started to
deal with the menu stuff in the 19.15 version, but feel free to
jetison it.
