You shouldn't need to perform any special authentication to access the 
xemacs betas. All of the relevant directories are publicly accessible
(read and execute permissions for `other').

Just use `anonymous' as the username and an email address (anything
with an `@' in it) as the password, as with anonymous ftp access
generally.
