No.

Yes (except that I've since disabled the calls to relabel-menu-item to 
get rid of the `%_').

I'm only using Motif for dialog boxes:

>  Using Lucid menubars.
>  Using Lucid scrollbars.
>  Using Motif dialog boxes.

Editres says the menubar is of class XlwMenu.
