Got this when trying to insert that last little beta report on m4.
C-cC-xTAB gives me the below and leaves me in the *mail* buffer with
the buffer cut (can't remember term but where visible portion of
buffer is cut to a region) with the inserted file there. Here's the
lisp backtrace:

Signaling: (invalid-function (macro . #<compiled-function (from "emu-e19.elc") (&rest body) "...(6)" [let ((emx-binary-mode t)) body] 3>))
  as-binary-input-file(("/home/dres/xemacs-crash" 6843))
  insert-binary-file-contents-literally("~/xemacs-crash")
  mime-insert-encoded-file("~/xemacs-crash" "7bit")
  mime-editor/insert-binary-file("~/xemacs-crash" "7bit")
  mime-editor/insert-file("~/xemacs-crash" nil)
  call-interactively(mime-editor/insert-file)
