I'm looking over `man.el', the Debian GNU/Linux CGI documentation
 interface, `dwww', `tkman', and the `man.el' in Emacs-20.2. I want
to study the problem more before I begin...

I plan to revamp the manual reader in XEmacs, and turn it into more
of a manual browser, ala `tkman'.

The Emacs-20.2 `man.el' runs well in XEmacs, and has some key
bindings that I really like. May I have an opinion or two, from
those who've looked over the code from and tried both versions?
Should I base on the Emacs version, or the XEmacs one? Why? (maybe
 I shouldn't ask...)

Q: Will the man who says he has to use `rman' to make it fast enough
(and anyone else who wants to add a data point) please test drive the
Emacs-20.2 version, and tell me if it's quick enough to use? How
does it's output compare to the XEmacs version using `rman'? I will
mail you a copy if you don't have it.

What I need right now is the `man man' from several non-Linux
systems. Would yous please mail me them?

I also need to know whether other systems use the MANPATH environment
variable, and what typical settings for that are, if it is used.
Where do you put your {,t,g}roff manuals? Is there a "catman"
directory? Is that automatic, ie, part of `man'? I only know Linux.

I guess I maybe will need `man makewhatis', `man whatis', or anything
else the similars that you might think I should see. I don't think I
 need troff manuals though.

{C-u M-! man -Tascii man} will do nicely, thank you!

Send ideas. How should it work? Toolbar? Keys? Pop-up frame? I
will implement the 'bully ... 'meek thing. What else?
