This never happens to me on Solaris 2 platforms.  What could the
difference in environments be?  Perhaps gcc versus Sunpro CC?? Bugs
triggered by particular packages?

Folks who have compiler/OS-specific problems are going to have to put
in some work to see their particular problem fixed.
