Does anyone know whether BROKEN_SIGIO is defined here? BROKEN_SIGIO
serves for `C-g' to interrupt `(while t)' on the systems where SIGIO
is not working properly, AFAIK. Then it's emulated by using ALARM.

OTOH, XEmacs on my system (Solaris) also has a sort of timeout,
implemented with poll (actually probably select), which seems to
imply that XEmacs needs the occasional checks. Does anyone know why
this is so?
