Probably not -- I'd guess these things should be customizable on a
per-device basis.  But the current behaviour isn't too bad either.

For example, it matches the behaviour of GNU Emacs in this case.
Secondly, it is unclear to me where the point should be phisically
positioned in the window, just after typing the 80th character, if it
wouldn't wrap.
