FWIW, I tried the same tests with 20.1b1.  Same results.

I looked at the various start up msgs, but nothing out of the ordinary.
It basically just manifests itself aa beginning to load a package, then
just sit and sit and sit.  Eventually, XEmacs moves onto the next package.

Autosaves also seem to take an exceptionally long time to happen.

I take it no one else is seeing this?  Or is just that your computers are
so much blindingly faster than mine?  :-)
