I don't really believe that is the case. May be the people who believe
it is useless shout hardest on xemacs-beta but I sincerely think with
even more and more non programmers using XEmacs the percentage of
people who opt for black-on-white only increases.

Likewise I think there is no reason to waist precious color map space
on a splash that apears only for a few seconds on startup and is not
even that easy to change. These things should be settible by either a
menu option or at the most one setq on a variable that is found by
hyper-aprapopos. (Note I do think the logo is very beautifull, I'll
just think all these cheap PC graphics cards that just as well do
16bpp shouldn't be the norm).

Where did the old logo go?

I distincly remember that there was a discussion a few months ago
about improving XEmacs colormap behaviour. (installing, reusing colors
etc).
