Some people are happy with edit-faces.  Customize and edit-faces are
different and incompatible.  Using the same menu name for something
different and incompatible is going to confuse people.

So remove the `Edit Faces' menu item if you want to deemphasize it.
And add the customize submenu if you want to emphasize that.  

Just don't make it look like customize is a new version of edit-faces.
It isn't, and wasn't designed to be.  If people want to switch, they
should do so when they feel the need, not just because some menu item
call a different function.
