My mistake, I didn't use the "new improved" gnuattach.

With the "new improved" gnuattach things are a little better.  It
basically works.  The original gnuattach didn't work on hpux9.05, it
just caused xemacs to freeze until you sent a SIGCONT, if I recall.
Then it hung up your xterm permanently.

The new one is OK, except that if I hit C-z in the xterm it seems to
sometimes go into a bizarre state.  Typing in the xterm is not echoed
in the xterm, but is echoed in xemacs.  Wierd.
