Hello Per,

This is how I tested custom under 20.1-b6 when I found it not to work.

The echo-help is much appreciated, though! Also it (1.59) runs quite a
bit faster than 1.50 under xemacs-20.1-b5.

Also, when editing the font family or font size in the minibuffer
(because hitting an unnecessary RETURN in one of these fields) the key
bindings an functionality is as expected. C-a C-k did not kill the
line in 1.50, but instead complained about "\n".

Custom is getting really good now!

This is on a SPARCstation 5, running Solaris2.5 and using CDE.

After configure-excerpt.err follows a testcase of what I found not to
work.

xemacs -q -no-site-file (strictly out of the box)

M-x custmize-face
default (let's customize the default font)
C-x 2
C-x b *scratch* (let's split the screen and display *scratch* in the
                 other half)

Type some text in the *scratch* buffer.

1. Pressing `Set' sets background color to white for entire frame.

2. Turning [x] Underline: on
works fine (*scratch* buffer uses default font and get underlined)

3. Turning [x] Italic: on
in addition show no change. No italic rendering of face.

4. Turning [x] Bold: on
   and [ ] Underlining: on
   as well as
   [ ] Italic: on
correctly turns off italic, but does not make the font bold.

5. Changing [x] Size: 12 shows no effect, although current font is
   smaller.

6. Switching to [x] Font Family: lucidatypewriter show no effect,
although I successfully used these settings under xemacs-20.1-b5.

Best regards,

Adrian
