Yes, I did, but I was only setting vm-display-xfaces.
highlight-headers-hack-x-face-p defaults (apparently) to non-nil.

Ok, that fixed the duplicate X-Face image problem.  Thanks!

Why do both of these variables exist?  Shouldn't they be merged???
