It failed for me (just like it did for Kyle), but after applying the
newer one and fixing the typo, it's still really slow.  I am seeing
this primarily with vm-6.20, so I suppose it could be something in
there.

Now after using it for a while, I'm seeing other problems that weren't 
in 20.1b6
    o	The e-mail indicator doesn't update properly.  Sometimes it
     	will change to the "you have mail" mode, but quickly changes
     	back.  Kyle, is this an interaction with VM's checking for
     	mail?
    o	I'm seeing the same sort of odd behaviour with the load
     	indicator, earlier it was up to the second yellow bar, but the 
     	system was really 89% idle (and most of that was XEmacs :-)
    o	I've seen several occasions where the display is not updating
     	after uncovering an XEmacs window.  As soon as I do anything
     	in the window it corrects itself.
