The file :
/usr/local/lib/xemacs-20.1-b6/info/dir

doesn't contain the line

* Locals :

at the end, as it claims to at the beginning of the file.

This tag is used so that folks can easily include local info
directories into XEmacs info reader, without having to copy a bunch of
files around.

If you don;t immediately understand what I mean, then type:

ESC x i n f o RET C-x n w ESC <

and read what is there in front of you. Then search in that buffer
for the string * Locals: and notice that it is only in the file once
as a comment; the real one is missing. :-(

The good news is that if I add it back in at the end of the file, and
restart XEmacs, all works as it should.
