 I second the motion.  It seemed to work fine in a vm-mail buffer once I
 commented out the message mode requirement stuff and the message-mode key 
 map stuff.

 On a similar note, is there anything special in earcons &
 gnus-article-emphasize that would keep them from working in vm?
