They still can change their font-lock-* faces with any other broken
method they want. If we are honest, we need the change to custom
sooner or later. Let it be sooner then the crowd will be satisfied again
sooner also. If someone in 2 years comes up with something substantial
better than custom and shows us how broken custom is, most of the guys
complaining about custom today will beat him down then.

Following your last, say 6-9, posts seems to indicate the direction we
are moving with respect to "setting of user variables"
