Introduction
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for downloading this Beta release of the
Java(tm) Cryptography Extension (JCE) 1.2.

JCE 1.2 replaces JCE 1.1, which never went beyond an early-access
release.

JCE 1.2 supplements the Java Development Kit 1.2 (JDK(tm)), and requires
that you have JDK 1.2 installed.

JCE 1.2 is written entirely in the Java(tm) programming language.

There have been two early-access ("ea") releases of JCE 1.2:
JCE 1.2-ea1 went out in early January 98, and JCE 1.2-ea2 was
released in March 98. We have received many valuable comments and
feedback from you since then. We have incorporated many of your comments
and suggestions into this JCE 1.2 Beta release.
