ONE DOLLAR PINBALL --- ------ ------- One Dollar Pinball was created by Larry DeMar and Joe Kaminkow. This game is played in a similar manner to Liar's poker. Each player uses a dollar bill to determine his score. The score is determined by processing the 8-digit serial number from left to right and keeping score, balls and tilt warnings based on the table below. The rules of the game were designed such that it is easy to commit them to memory (e.g. 2=double score, 3=3 million, ...etc.) Once committed to memory (or with a copy of this rules sheet) the game may be played almost anywhere. In each game, the player begins with 3 balls and 2 tilt warnings. From left to right, look up each digit in the table below, and update your score, ball count and tilt warnings accordingly. Your game ends when you have exhausted all of the digits or your ball count reaches 0. (Or you tilt the machine.) At the end of the game, you are awarded 1 million points for each ball remaining. If the last digit of the serial number matches the last digit in the serial year, award an additional million points (Match). 0 - Million Plus + If this is the last digit of the bill, award 0 points. Otherwise, look at the digit that follows the zero. Award this many millions. If the next digit is another zero, award 10 million. Do NOT process this 2nd digit again. 1 - One Million + Award 1 million points. 2 - Double Score + The 1st '2' encountered doubles your score. Subsequent 2's award 1 million points each. 3 - Three Million + Award 3 million points. 4 - Jackpot + The 1st '4' awards the jackpot. The jackpot score is determined by the 4 black numbers in the corners of the bill (in millions). Subsequent 4's award 1 million points each. 5 - Extra Ball + Add 1 to your balls remaining counter. 6 - Tilt Warning + Subtract 1 from your tilt warnings. If your tilt warnings count hits zero, remove a ball and reset your tilt warning count. 7,8 or 9 - Drain + Remove 1 from your ball counter, unless it is followed by the same number (77, 88 or 99) in which case it is a fantastic save! Should you encounter 3 of these matching digits in a row, the fantastic save results in a SPECIAL which awards 5 million points. Do not re-process the extra digits again. Max score is is "40000002 12 1902" => 88 Million points. [A shell script for playing Dollar Pinball is available as "dollar.sh" wherever you found this file.]
