This week's bulletin was written by Bengt Dalhammar.

Electronic Edition edited by George Wood.

Packet Radio BID SCDX2030

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE--Because I've been travelling recently, we've been a bit uneven in
getting the bulletins out. The "missing" editions will be uploaded as soon as
possible. Please also note that there was a misprint in edition 2028
concerning its packet radio BID. This is SCDX2028, of course, and not
SCDX2031, as was written. (George Wood)

BHUTAN--The Bhutan Broadcasting Service is scheduled to install the 50 kW
transmitter, contributed by India, by April this year. Currently the BBS is
broadcasting daily except Sunday 11:00-15:00 hrs (English 14:15-15:00) and
Sundays 06:00-10:00 hrs (English 09:00-10:00), on 6035 kHz with 10 kW.
(Sarath Weerakoon and Victor Goonetilleke, both Sri Lanka, in "UADX
Newsletter")

BRAZIL/SURINAM--From March 5th, Radio Surinam International is changing to
17765 kHz from 17835 kHz, for the broadcast in Dutch, English, and Sranan
Tongo, weekdays 17:00-17:45 hrs. (BBC Monitoring)

sign-off att 21:50 hrs on 6250 kHz. (Dave Valko, USA, in "Fine Tuning")

GABON--Africa No. 1 is now on the air all evening until sign-off at 21:15 hrs
or later on 15200 kHz. 15475 kHz is no longer used. (Joachim Mauer, West
Germany and Thierry Moy)

HONG KONG--The Vietnamese program from Hong Kong is prepared by Radio
Television Hong Kong and broadcast by Cable and Wireless 23:00-01:00 and
11:00-13:00 hrs on 7290 kHz, using 30 kW. (Arthur Cushen, New Zealand, and
Dave Clark, USA, in "Fine Tuning")

ICELAND--Rikisutvarpid is now broadcasting on shortwave: To Europe

ITALY--The Italian Radio Relay Service was scheduled to begin regular
broadcasts on February 12th at 08:00 hrs Sundays only on 9860 kHz. 7160 kHz
is no longer in operation. AWR Forli has a DX program in English Sundays at
07:30 and 14:30 hrs and in Italian 12:00 and 15:00 hrs, on 7257 kHz. (Joachim

JORDAN--Radio Jordan is now scheduled to broadcast in Arabic 03:30-23:00 hrs
on 9835 and 11810 kHz. English 14:30-22:00 hrs is now on 9565 kHz to Europe
and North America. (Uwe Gruner, West Germany)

LAOS--The Laotian provincial stations seem to be disappearing from shortwave.
In January only Savannakhet was heard around 12:30 hrs on 7353 kHz. The only
other shortwave operations heard from Laos now are from Vientiane.

There are broadcasts on 6130 kHz 21:30-02:30, 03:30-07:00, and 09:00-16:00
hrs. The Capital Service can be heard on 4440 kHz 22:30-01:00 hrs,

LIBERIA--Engineers at the Liberia Broadcasting System have completed repairs
on the LBS shortwave transmitter, after 18 months off the air. Broadcasts are
now 08:00-18:00 hrs on 6090 kHz and 18:00-24:00 hrs on 3255 kHz. (BBC
Monitoring)

MARSHALL ISLANDS--Updating SCDX-2026, there are some doubts about reception
of WSZO on 4940 kHz. According to reports from Australia, in December 1988
WSZO was still operating on 6070 kHz, and there were no plans to fix the 60
meter band antenna, as 6070 kHz provided good reception in the entire
country. Radio Jaktutsk in the USSR can be heard on 4940 kHz, in parallel
with 4920. (Olle Alm, Sweden, in "Shortwave Bulletin")

SOMALIA--Radio Hargeisa is back again using 7120 kHz. Both the second
harmonic on 14240 kHz and the third on 21360 kHz are quite regular from
around 12:00 hrs until past 17:00 hrs. (Sarath Weerekoon). Both of these
unintentional signals are in amateur radio bands.

Radio Mogadishu can be heard around 14:30 hrs on 7200 kHz, mixed with Kabul.
(Victor Goonetilleke)

THAILAND--The Or Sor Royal Palace Station in Bengkok has been noted with time
tips at 11:00 hrs, with a broadcast continuing until 12:00 hrs sign-off. The
Home Service in Thai from Radio Thailand has been observed quite regularly
around 12:00 hrs on around 7115 kHz, in parallel with 4830 and 6070. (Sarath
Weerakoon)

satellites--and not loggings of information already available from sources
such as the "World Radio TV Handbook". Clubs and DX publications may reprint
material as long as Sweden Calling DXers and the original contributor are
acknowledged, with the exception of items from BBC Monitoring, which are
copyright.

We welcome comments and suggestions about the electronic edition, Sweden
Calling DXers, and our programs in general.
