SATELLITES--The chairman of Sky Television, Andrew Neil, has announced
that the BBC World Service will be put out via one of the sub-carriers
from the Astra satellite starting as soon as possible. (BBC Monitoring)
COSTA RICA--Radio Impacto is reported on 6150 kHz as early as 09:00
though sign-on is listed as 10:30 in the WRTH 1989. (Masao Kato, Japan)
ECUADOR--On March 5th Radio HCJB introduces the new frequency of 21475
kHz for the Nordic broadcast 20:00-20:30. (Mogens Jensen, Denmark)
GREECE--The Voice of Greece programs in Greek, English, French and
German 19:00-19:50 are now on 7430 and 9905 kHz. 6210 kHz is no longer

INDIA--Since January 1st All India Radio is running a Hindi service
for Europe at 20:45-21:45 on 11620 and 7412 kHz. From 21:00 also
on 9910 kHz. (Amar Sood, Nigeria)
The current monitored schedule of Radio Kashmir on short wave is
as follows: From Srinagar on 3277 kHz at 01:20-02:25 and at 11:30-17:38
and on 6110 kHz between 02:40 and 04:53 and from 06:00 until 11:15.
From Jammu on 3345 kHz at 01:20-02:15 and at 11:30-17:41 and on 5960
kHz at 02:29-04:45 and at 06:30-09:00. From Leh test transmissions have

JAPAN--Here are some changes from Radio Japan beginning March 5th:
German at 06:00 is broadcast via Gabon on 15325 and 21690 kHz. The
evening broadcast in German at 19:30 followed by French at 20:00 are on
11880 KHz and the programs in Swedish and Italian at 21:00 are on 11800

JORDAN--Correcting SCDX-2030, the frequency of Radio Jordan's
transmissions to Europe and North America 14:30-22:00 should be 9560

LEBANON--The Voice of Hope station in southern Lebanon has been off the
air since February 4th. (This station was operated by American
fundamentalist Christians in the territory controlled by the pro-
Israeli South Lebanese Army, and has been largely perceived by Lebanese
as the voice of the SLA and the Israelis.) According to reports from
Lebanon, the Voice of Hope is to resume in early March, possibly from
within Israel. (BBC Monitoring)
MONGOLIA--Updating SCDX-2027 Radio Ulan Bator broadcasts in English on
Fridays at 20:15 on the new frequencies of 11820 and 9985 kHz. (Uwe

NETHERLANDS--Beginning March 26th the transmission of Radio Netherlands
to North America's East coast will move from 02:30 to 00:30. The
frequencies will be 15315, 6165 and 6020 kHz. The transmission to the
West coast of North America will also be earlier, at 03:30 instead of

PORTUGAL--Radiodifusao Portuguesa is carrying out work on a new 300
kilowatt short wave transmitter. The transmitter is located at Pegoes
and will open next summer. (BBC Monitoring)
YEMEN ARAB REPUBLIC--YAR Radio from Sana'a has been heard signing on at
03:00 on four parallel short wave frequencies: 9779.4, 6135, 5950 and
4853 kHz. (BBC Monitoring)

and interviews on Tuesdays since 1948. RS broadcasts to North America:
14:00 hrs on 15345 and 21615 kHz
02:30 hrs on 9695 and 11705 kHz
To Europe, Africa, and the Middle East:
03:30 hrs on 11705 kHz (Middle East)
15:30 hrs on 15240 kHz (East Africa)
18:00 hrs on 1179, 6065, 7265, and 11845 kHz
21:00 hrs on 1179, 6065 and 9655 kHz
22:30 hrs on 1179 kHz
And to Asia and the Pacific:
12:30 hrs on 15190, 17810, and 21570 kHz
14:00 hrs on 17810 kHz
15:30 hrs on 15330 and 17810 kHz
