Packet Radio BID SCDX2036

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

SATELLITE-RADIO--We've reported before about the Voice of America satellite
service to Europe, VOA Europe. Radio Australia reports that a similar service
is being offered to the Pacific, featuring adult contemporary rock. Right now
VOA Pacific is a two hour weekly program, relayed by satellite. The stereo
broadcasts include three commercial windows, so stations running advertising
can earn some money while taking the programs. (BBC Monitoring)

Here is a list of European satellite radio channels. These are all relayed on
one of the ECS satellites, although which one is not indicated. Besides VOA
Europe and the BBC World Service, there's Sky Radio and another English
language service called Channel One, Norwegian Radio's P1 and P2, Radio 10 in
Dutch, and RTL and Starsat Radio in German. (Radio Netherlands via "WRTH
Downlink")

BELGIUM--RTBF in French uses mainly 9925 kHz weekdays at 05:30-06:30, 10:00-
12:00 and 15:00-15:45, Saturdays at 05:30-09:55, 10:00-12:00 and 15:00-15:45
and Sundays at 05:30-15:45. (Francois Chalory, France)

BRAZIL--Radio Nacional do Brasil is not currently heard in Spanish. (Valter
Aguiar, Brazil)

CUBA--Radio Habana Cuba has been observed on 15350 kHz in Spanish at 18:00-
20:00 to Europe. (Peter Andrewitz, West Germany)

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC--Since 16th February, a transmitter on 11700 kHz has been
observed relaying programs from Radio Mil and Radio Clarin weekdays. The
transmitter usually signs on between 10:30 and 11:30 with the "Radio Mil
Informando" morning news bulletin in progress until the end of the program,
usually at about 12:30. This is followed by Radio Clarin's local service,
with Radio Mil's news programs from 16:00-17:30/45 and again from 21:30 to
approximately 23:00. Relays of Radio Clarin's local service include an
evening news programme entitled "Clarin Informativo" between 23:00 and 24:00.

4, with the rest of broadcasts (30 percent) addressed to immigrants in
several languages. (Harry Niebuhr, West Germany)

IRAN--The Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasts in German at
18:00-18:45 to Europe, North Africa and the western part of Soviet Union on

Arab Homeland programme in Arabic from 11:15-13:15 and 17:45-04:30. From
13:15-17:45 all frequencies usually relay Libyan radio's domestic service in
