ARGENTINA--Radio Nacional Viedma, Buenos Aires, can be heard at 23:00 hrs in
parallel with medium wave. Radio Aurora, Buenos Aires can be heard on 7380
kHz, although announcing 7340, around 20:00 hrs. Radio Pucara, Reconquista,
is a new station broadcasting on 1050 kHz, heard from 23:00 hrs until close-
down at 02:30 hrs. (Gerardo Evangelista, Argentina)

BANGLADESH--Radio Bangladesh continues to shift the frequencies of its
Overseas Service. Updating SCDX-2049, the English service to Europe 18:15-
19:00 hrs is now on 11910 and 7520 kHz. There is interference from Radio
Budapest on 11910 kHz. (Uwe Gruner, West Germany) However 7520 kHz is
reported to have changed to 7525. (George Efstratiades, Greece)

BRAZIL--Radio Caraja, Anapolis, has reactivated 4885 kHz. (Riku Hietakari,
Finland) Radio Anhanguera has been heard on 6080 kHz in parallel with 4915
around 02:15-02:30 hrs. ("Fine Tuning") Some publications have confused Radio
Anhanguera on 6080 kHz with Radio Araguaia, which broadcasts on 4905. (DX

CHINA--The Radio Beijing Easy FM broadcasts are an English language service
that started on May 15th. It is on the air for 7 hours a day on medium wave
1251 kHz and FM 91.5 MHz, and is relayed by other stations in China. The
service was set up by AWA Limited in Australia, and features news and easy
listening music. (Wayne Watt, Australia)

GREECE--The Voice of Greece has abandoned 9905 kHz and is now heard on 9395
in parallel with 11645 with 10 minute broadcasts in English at 19:20, French
at 19:30, and German at 19:40 hrs. (Wolfgang Gruschel, West Germany) The
Voice of Greece also broadcasts in Russian for 10 minutes twice daily, at
13:35 hrs on 11645 kHz, and at 18:25 hrs on 9395, 9425, and 11645 kHz. (Pavel

ITALY/UNITED NATIONS--United Nations Radio broadcasts for Europe on Sundays
via IRRS Milano on 9850 kHz. English is scheduled 07:30-08:00, French 11:00-
11:15, and Spanish 11:15-11:30 hrs. IRRS also carries broadcasts from UNESCO
Radio on Sundays. (Bjoern Quaeck, West Germany)

MONACO--Since July 1st, the Radio Monte Carlo transmitter on 1467 kHz is
broadcasting in Arabic until 18:30 hrs. In the evenings, Trans World Radio
continues to use the transmitter. The French service from Radio MOnte Carlo
is now heard only on longwave 216 kHz and VHF. The LW transmission has been
extended by one hour to 00:05 hrs. (Stefano Valianti, Italy)

OMAN--Radio Oman can be heard on 17735 kHz with programs in Arabic as late as
21:00 hrs. (Riku Hietakari)

QATAR--The QBS in Doa has moved its 13 meter frequency. After a period on
21565 kHz, it was briefly heard on 21825, but is now on 21460 kHz. (Valeri
Ostroverch, USSR)

TONGA--The Tonga Broadcasting Commission's shortwave transmitter on 5030 kHz
has been off the air since early June, due to a lack of replacement parts.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES--Updating SCDX-2050, English to Europe from the Voice of
the UAE in Abu Dhabi can now be heard on 11985 kHz instead of 11965, with
9595 and 13605 kHz in parallel. (Tim Grundey, Scotland) It appears that Abu
Dhabi is now using only one transmitter in the 11 meter band, on 25900 kHz.
The transmission previously reported on 25670 kHz has moved to 21515.

UNITED KINGDOM--A new British commercial radio station, "Breeze AM" began
regular broadcasts on July 16th using the facilities of Essex Radio on 1359
and 1431 kHz. Essex Radio is now using VHF only. The Breeze AM format is easy
listening or light music 24 hours a day. (Bradley Allen, England)

PUBLICATIONS--The 48th issue of the "Kurzwellen-Frequenzen" (Shortwave
Frequencies) list has been released by DX-Team Berlin. This 125 page booklet
contains up-to-date information arranged by country and by frequency and is
issued 5 times a year. One issue costs DM 8 or 7 IRCs, all 5 issues for one

Sweden Calling DXers is the world's oldest radio program for shortwave  
listeners. Radio Sweden has presented this round-up of radio news, features,
and interviews on Tuesdays since 1948. RS broadcasts to North America: 
  
      15:30 hrs on 17880 and 21610 kHz 
      03:00 hrs on 9695 and 11705 kHz
 
To Europe, Africa, and the Middle East:
  
      15:30 hrs on 21675 kHz (East Africa) 
      17:00 hrs on 1179, 6065, and 9615 kHz
      21:00 hrs on 1179, 9655 and 11705 kHz 

And to Asia and the Pacific:

      12:30 hrs on 17705 and 21610 kHz
      14:00 hrs on 17705 and 21610 kHz
      01:00 hrs on 15390 and 17790 kHz
