There are a total of ten tools scattered throughout the game, one
of which will be the one required by Marvin. The required tool is picked
randomly, with one exception: if you simply guess which tool is required,
it will never be the correct one. The only way to choose the correct tool
is to find out, beforehand, which tool is the correct one: otherwise
Marvin will always ask for one that you don't have, regardless of how you
try to get around it by saving and restoring. ( At least I thought this
was the case, but you say that you did solve it once by the save/restore
method... I didn't know that was possible.)
But how to find out which is the required tool? Aye, there's the
rub. There is a specific puzzle that you have to solve beforehand to get
this information, and it's easy to not even recognize it as a puzzle. Have you
made any progress with the pieces of fluff? If not, work on getting
something accomplished with them, as they are an integral part of
the solution to this puzzle. ( Hint: There is an entry on the Guide on
fluff. Check it out.)
One last point: Just to add insult to injury, if you "lose" one of
the tools permanently, then that will be the one Marvin asks for, as far
as I know.

	Mike
