Somebody was asking about what all this kite terminology meant, 
well .....

Bridle

The apparatus on a horses head by which it is controlled

Spar
~~~~
An undressed tree stem of medium girth

Cross Spar
~~~~~~~~~~
A gibbet on which the Romans exposed malefactors, made from an
undressed tree stem of medium girth

Spine
~~~~~
The back of a book.

Sail
~~~~
A sheet of canvas, framework of slats, or other structure, spread to 
catch the wind

Drag
~~~~
Tedious

Lift
~~~~
One of the layers of material in a shoe heel

Line
~~~~
That which has length without breadth or thickness

Kite
~~~~
A rapacious person


As you can probably now appreciate, it is a non-trivial 
task building an efficient tethered flying machine.
