Sat 13-Jun-92: Updated my Turbo Pascal units collection. It is now
 garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tspa28*.zip
where * = 40,50,55,60.
Added to TSUNTG unit

but this takes effect only after the program has been completed.
Added an alternative which takes effect immediately, but is

the prompt to indicate that you are shelled out of a program so that
you are less likely to forget to type exit. See TSUNTG.TST for how
to use this feature.

Dear Valued Uploader,

Thank you for your welcome upload. It would be very convenient for
you too if you would use a descriptive email subject header in your
kind future upload announcements to us. This is because your
message will be used as such to announce the accepted uploads on the
usenet news. The announcements are bunched together with a contents
list that is copied directly from the subject headers of the
uploaders' announcements. Thus using a descriptive subject header
will be to your own advantage.

With the load we have we regret that we do not have the time to edit
the headers ourselves. Your upload will be / was handled otherwise
in the usual manner, but I shall not include your announcement in my
garbo.uwasa.fi upload postings.

In a situation like this our kind uploaders tend to ask whether they
should send the announcement anew with a proper header. I regret to
inform that if the file has already been made publicly available on
garbo archives, the answer is a definite no. With the load we have,
we cannot afford the extra handling.

   All the best, Timo

Subject: Upload: ADDPATH, DOS path extender

I have uploaded to garbo a program my friend wrote called ADDPATH:

   ADDPATH Version 1.02 11-16-1991
   MSDOS Path Modifier
   Written by Robert Snodgrass
Addpath allows you to add directly to your PATH= string in
your environment, and bypasses DOS's 122 character limit.
    Usage: ADDPATH Option
Option: /Ddir .... remove dir from path
/Bdir .... insert dir at Begining of path
/Edir .... insert dir at End of path
dir .... insert dir at End of path
   Example: ADDPATH C:\DOS5;C:\WINDOWS /D C:\DOS4 c:\DOS3
This will add C:\DOS5;C:\WINDOWS to the end of the PATH,
and it will Delete C:\DOS4 c:\DOS3 from the PATH.
To expand the size of the environment to 512 Bytes, add the
	   following to your CONFIG.SYS file:
		   SHELL=C:COMMAND.COM /P /E:512
ADDPATH is Distributed as shareware, if you find ADDPATH usefull,
a registration fee of $6.00 would be appreciated.
Send check or money order to:
			   Robert Snodgrass
			   6285 Zehman Dr.
			   Brookpark OH 44142 USA

Thank you Robert. This is now available as:

SRDISK is a small RAM disk driver using XMS memory. It comes with a

Special features are capability of handling over 32 Mb disks, to set
environment variables to hold the RAM disk drive letter and write

   Long description:

This RAM disk currently supports the following features:

     * XMS (Extended memory on 286 and up with HIMEM or other XMS driver)
support - no other memory drivers - yet
     * Device drivers may be chained to form larger disks using many
       different kind memories.
     * Resizeable/removable - destroys disk contents
     * Supports 32-bit sector addressing introduced in DOS 3.31. Thus
over 32M RAM disks are possible. (Up to 63M disks tested.)
     * Configurable
	 - sector size
	 - cluster size
	 - root directory entry count
	 - number of FATs
     * Predefined DOS disk like formats (also size 1K, if you do not want
a drive not ready error when you do not really need any disk)
     * Write protection
     * Compatible with MS-DOS versions from 2.00 to 5.x
       (tested with MS-DOS 5.0, 3.30, DR-DOS 5 and 6)
     * Stores last format time in volume label
     * Can optionally set environment variables SRDISKn (n=1,2,...) to
       the installed SRDISK drive letters.

New in this release compared to 1.30 is the support for DR-DOS (not
very much tested though) and smarter reformatting in order to keep
user from needing to know about cluster sizes and other technical
   things.

Harri, while updating the srdisk13.zip to the srdisk14.zip, please
remove the diskutil/srdisk12.zip. I think the upload message got lost
when I uploaded srdisk13.zip and therefore you did not notice the old
   version.

These two utilities allow the easy conversion of 8-bit Esperanto texts
such as those created with the ETDE editor to any of the common 7-bit
conventions used on Internet, Compuserve, the soc.culture.esperanto
   newsgroup, etc, and vice-versa.

AL8 takes any 7-bit text, even with mixed conventions, and tries to
interpret the input. In case of a ^, it tests the ^c... combinations

Simple DOS filters to either create a print file, or to print to LPTn:
from texts with accented Esperanto letters. These use the simple
expedient of replacing the accented letters by the base letter +
Backspace + Accent (^ or ~). Output is far from elegant, but provides
readable text in a pinch (Use non-proportional fonts!) on all printers
that accept ASCII input. The print files can also be fed to programs
   that prepare PostScript files.

A simple solution to print Esperanto texts on printers that do not
have the proper fonts. The accented letters are obtained by back-
spacing and overprinting the accent. Both utilities are filters that
take their input from redirected Std In, and output to either Std Out
or to a parallel printer port.

The tool is a complete documentation development pakage for
	   Peter Coads OOA method.
It is build around an easy to use graphic object editor and is
capable of documenting all objects, their attributes, services
	   and also associations between objects.

In oposite to Coad's OOATool (tm) $50-version it has no constraints

An implementation of the "comb sort" for Esperanto texts, to alpha-
betize correctly the accented letters. There is no limit on the file
and record lengths, for a maximum of 32 000 records. Thanks to
optional record delimiters, multi-line texts such as dictionary entries
can be alphabetized properly. Works also for English texts. Because
of the file sizes involved, sorting is done via a temporary file. This
requires the use of a RAM disk for any large job.
   Sorting is not case sensitive.

This program was designed to be able to alphabetize multi-line records
of the kind found in dictionary or encyclopedia entries. Optional
record delimiters tell the program where the records begin and end
(the default is <CR><LF>, for sorting line by line). The program
detects and handles automatically the accented Esperanto characters
in the EZo standard at 166, 224, 226-235, but does not try to
interpret any of the other extended ASCII characters since each
language has different alphabetization rules. Alphabetization in
English and Esperanto is not case sensitive.
The sorting algorithm is that of the "comb sort" of S. Lacey and
   R. Box (BYTE, April 1991, pp 315-320). Pointers to the records in a
temporary file are swapped in memory (hence the limit of 32000
records) and the actual records are read repeatedly from the temporary
file. Because disk access is slow, large jobs must be run from a RAM
disk. Input and output files do not need to be on the RAM disk.

Well, it turns out that he was just copying from the cia 1991 world
fact book. Thank you (Robert) for letting me know.

I withdrew the file.
Cute, but not in the sense I originally meant. :-(

/pc/filecopy
docp11.zip A Directory-Oriented CoPy processed by R.Bixler w/C
Comes with many optional switches and is definitely
                worth a closer look.

/pc/filefind
fdf101.zip Find duplicate files processed by R.Bixler w/C.
A duplicate finder as any, but the competiotion is
this field is tough with such an excellent utility
around as cudup21.zip, and I am not discounting even
my own modest attempt in tsutlc17.zip.

/pc/keyboard
gold22.zip TSR to simulate GOLD key with Num Lock (VTxxx) (w ASM)
This is a newer version than what we had. I did not
take a closer look since I no longer use the EDT VMS
editor but MicroEMACS so that I have the same editor
on all the platforms even if I am not an Emacs fan.

Subject: Upload: Graphic Workshop for Windows (Win3)

   I have uploaded to /win3/incoming/
   -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 259421 Jun 11 02:18 gwswin10.zip

   GSW.WRI says:

   File formats:
   MacPaint
   GEM/IMG
   PC Paintbrush PCX
   CompuServe GIF
   TIFF
   WordPerfect Graphics WPG
   Deluxe Paint/Amiga IFF/LBM
   PC Paint Pictor PIC
   Truevision Targa
   Windows 3 BMP
   Microsoft Paint MSP
   Self-displaying EXE pictures
   Text files
   Halo CUT

Graphic workshop is a simple, menu driven environment which will let
you perform the following operations on the aforementioned files.

   View them.
Convert between any two formats (with a few restrictions).
   Print them.
Dither the colour ones to black and white.
   Reverse them.
   Rotate and flip them.
   Scale them.
Reduce the number of colours in them and do colour dithering.
Sharpen, soften and otherwise wreak special effects on them.
Crop them down to smaller files
Adjust the brightness and colour balance of the colour ones.

Using Graphic Workshop, you can have your image files in the formats
that your software recognizes, all without keeping track of numerous
funky utilities. In addition, using the halftoning and dithering
facilities of Graphic Workshop, you can convert full colour digitized
photographs for use as superb black and white clip art, suitable for
   inclusion in your documents.

Graphic Workshop will handle image files of any size your computer has
enough memory to work with. Hopefully,it lacks even the merest vestiges
of bugs... a likely story, but we hope so.

Graphic Workshop will drive your monitor and print through the Windows
hardware drivers. If you have screen and printer drivers for Windows,
you have them for Graphic Workshop for Windows.

   Hardware and software
Graphic Workshop will run on any system which is capable of running
Windows 3.0 or better. Its ability to deal with large files is limited
by the amount of free memory in your system. Note that unlike the DOS
version of Graphic Workshop, Graphic Workshop for Windows cannot use
   virtual memory.

Thu 25-Jun-92: I have updated the list of PD & shareware authors
reachable by email on and from internet. The list now contains 66
authors. It is

--------------------------------------------------------
Invitation to the list of MsDos PD and shareware authors:
--------------------------------------------------------

What is garbo.uwasa.fi
----------------------
In case you are not familiar with FTP garbo.uwasa.fi archives here
is a brief outline. University of Vaasa, Finland, Sun IPX
sparcstation garbo.uwasa.fi has a large collection of PD and
shareware PC programs available by anonymous ftp or mail server.
This repository is used extensively. For example in 1991 the total
number of downloads from our archives was a little over 1,000,000.
The number of different MsDos files was about 2800 at the end of
1991. The garbo archives are also available on a CD-ROM.

The downloads are made worldwide including MsDos and Windows users
from InterNet sites in Europe, North America and Australia. There
are some 2000 universities connected to InterNet, and there is also
a great number of business enterprises which have an access. The
newsgroup where the files uploaded to FTP archives such as
garbo.uwasa.fi is subscribed by about 70000 readers.

General information
-------------------

If you are an MsDos utility PD or SW author who wishes to get
included on this list you are most welcome email me with the full
information. Please note that your program(s) should be reasonably
well established and must be non-trivial to merit an inclusion on
this list.

You must have a sufficiently stable email address that is reachable
on or from InterNet. For example authors without an InterNet address
but with a Compuserve address are reachable from InterNet. You can
send me email from Compuserve by applying send to
">INTERNET:ts@uwasa.fi".

Your program should preferably fall within the eligible
garbo.uwasa.fi MsDos PD & SW categories. In practice this means that
the addresses of the authors of (solely) recreational games are not
solicited. I am hoping that someone else would take it upon
him/herself to compile a similar list for games and/or Windows
authors.

We naturally hope that you will keep us up to date about the updates
of your program if it is on garbo.uwasa.fi archives. This is not,
however, a precondition for the inclusion of your information. The
file garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/UPLOAD.INF has information on uploading to
our MsDos FTP archives. If you wish to have it and you do not know
how to go about getting it, you are most welcome to email me for
further informatiuon.

If you for some reason should later wish your name to be removed
from this list, please just let me know then.

On the information to be entered
--------------------------------

 - Please fill in. That way the possibility of me making errors
   is diminished.
 - This is above all an address list. Therefore the "Program:" line
should have your major or preferred product including a suitable
description in a manner that does not exceed column 68 on the
single line reserved for this purpose. (Thus only one line).
 - Yet, if possible, be specific about your product. Rather than
   just stating e.g.
    Program: GISMO
   you might want to state
Program: GISMO Global International Simulator Modelling utilities
 - When you kindly fill this in for me, please do not use tabs, and
start from column 13 as the ruler indicates.
 - Fill in just one "sheet". Do not send in several. If you have
   many products, please choose.
 - If you are correcting or changing an entry I already have, please
be sure to fill in all the items, nevertheless. Not just the
   changed one.
 - I have to retain full rights to choose and edit the submitted
   entries.

   WDL.TXT says :

The Windows 3.1 Driver Library contains device drivers for
printers, displays, and audio devices. These drivers enable
the devices to run with Microsoft Windows version 3.1.
Also in this library are a few additional items, such as Access
Pack software, and a Novell Netware upgrade.

As new and updated drivers become available, they will be added
to the Windows 3.1 Driver library.

This WDL.TXT file includes a list of all devices supported by
the drivers in the Windows 3.1 Driver Library, and instructions
for downloading. This file is updated on a regular basis.

NOTE: Everything included in this library is intended for use
with Microsoft Windows version 3.1. It is NOT RECOMMENDED
that these items be used with Windows 3.0.
