MOUSE100.ZIP contains .OBJ and both .H and .HPP for the Turbo
C/C++ family of languages. It allows access to the mouse driver
through calls to INT 033h. It is faster than MOUSTOOL, and is
written entirely in C (C++). Included is a demonstration program,
   TEST.EXE, with .CPP source included.

MOUSE100.ZIP is shareware (but read included README.TXT file).

Status: OR

   Date: Sat, 1 Aug 92 14:53:24 CDT
   From: jdz1@Ra.MsState.Edu (John D. Zitterkopf)

   Harri & Timo,
I have uploaded my menuing program to your FTP site @garbo in the
   pc/incoming directory. Here's a discription of it's features:

			 [... Excerpt from HD_ACC.DOC ...]

The HardDisk Accomplice is a menu program to aid the
user in executing his/her programs without using ANY of the
computer's memory. The program is very flexible and easy to
use because it was designed initially to be this way!
The program supports many of today's advanced features. The
menu will automatically detect and setup the following
	    features:

~ 43/50 line text modes for the EGA/VGA cards of today.
		 ~ Mouse Control.
		 ~ 4 pages of 26 executable programs.
		 ~ An online Help facility.
~ Uses no memory when not in the menu.
~ Features a configurable Screen Blanker that by default
		      uses Explosiv Junior.
~ Takes advantage of CALL and @ commands in batch files.
~ A simple easy to use Editing feature.

The Accomplice was designed for a hard drive but it can be
used on systems without a hard drive. The program must,
however, be placed in a directory in which the PATH
environment variable points to. The minimum requirements for
	    the Accomplice are:

		 ~ MS-DOS 2.0 or Higher.
		 ~ 150k of free memory.
~ 80 column graphics card: Hercules, CGA, EGA mono, EGA,
					    VGA or higher.
~ At least 220k of free disk space.

	    The Recommended requirements are:

		 ~ MS-DOS 3.31 or higher.
~ EGA or higher graphics card.
~ A MicroSoft (TM) Compatible mouse.
		 ~ +150k of free RAM.
~ A REGISTERED version of Explosiv JR.

The package should contain the following files:

MENU.BAT - The batch file needed to run the Accomplice.
HD_ACC.EXE - The main menu program.
	    HD_ACC.HLP - The menu's online help data.
	    SCRCHECK.EXE - 43/50 line changer program.
EXPLOSJR.ZIP - The Explosiv archive that contains:
EXPLOSJR.COM - Explosiv junior for DOS executable
WXJ.EXE - Explosiv junior for Windows executable
WXJ.DLL - Windows dynamic link library
		 WXJ.INI - Configuration file for wxj.exe
EXPLOSJR.DOC - Documentation for explosiv junior
	    REGISTER.FRM - Registration/Order form for the Accomplice.

   Hi All,

I just uploaded the files TVG103.ZIP and TVG103_S.ZIP which contain
the Turbo Vision Graphics demo and sources.

Turbo Vision Graphics is a set of routines that allows Turbo Vision
programs to run on EGA and VGA adapters in graphics mode and to use
graphics withing these Turbo Vision applications.

These files contain version 1.03, in which I have applied a bug-fix
to prevent the mouse cursor to be restricted to the upper half of the
   screen with many mouse drivers.

The files belong in a PASCAL directory.

Timo, can you please announce this file in de comp.lang.pascal
   newsgroup?

      I have uploaded to Garbo:

   EMSIF  2.31     EMS interface for Borland/Turbo C[++] & MSC

EMSIF, formerly known as EMSLIB, provides a high-level interface to
LIM EMS control functions for common operations such as allocating,
mapping, and freeing EMS, and copying data to and from EMS. The
interface has been made independent of the EMS version implemented by
the driver as far as possible, so that parameters and returned data are
always in the same format, but the EMS call most appropriate to the EMS
version implemented by the driver is used. This release replaces EMSLIB
2.30. The package has been renamed to avoid confusion with
   similarly-named products.

EMSIF expressly supports the Lotus-Intel-Microsoft (LIM) Expanded
Memory Specification (EMS) versions 3.0, 3.2, and 4.0. Versions above
4.0 are supported as 4.0. Versions below 3.0 are not supported.

EMSIF supports tiny, small, medium, compact, large, and huge memory
models. The small model library supports both tiny and small models, so
no library is provided specifically for tiny model.

EMSIF supports any version of Turbo C, Turbo C++, or Borland C++, in
both C and C++ modes, and Microsoft C 6.00 and 6.00A. EMSIF has been
   tested with Borland C++ 2.0, Turbo C 2.0, and Microsoft C 6.00A in all
of the supported memory models. EMSIF should work with earlier versions
of Microsoft C and any other MS-DOS C compiler that 1) uses compatible
parameter passing and return methods and 2) can use standard-format
   libraries.

Free for private use; you must register only if you wish to distribute
   programs using EMSIF.

				WHAT'S NEW IN
				 EMSIF 2.31:

+ Fixed bug which caused incorrect amounts of EMS to be
	     allocated.

    I have uploaded to /pc/incoming :

     27706 Jul 5 14:00 catchmte.zip

				     CatchMtE 1.0
    <...>
    Description:

CatchMtE is designed to recognize viral code based on the so-called
Mutation Engine. It uses sophisticated algorithms to make that determination.
We have tested it on MS/PC DOS 3.3+ as well as Netware 386 based disks. On
network drives, some files may not be opened and will generate an error
message. The program uses handle-oriented DOS file access for compatibility.

CatchMtE is NOT a pattern matcher; although it uses Boyer-Moore search
algorithm and a few patterns to recognize the mutations that are in plaintext.
This is necessary because MtE sometimes fails to encrypt code as expected.
The following known viruses are recognized if they are in plaintext:

       Pogue
       Dedicated/Fear
       Groove

If none of the patterns extracted from these viruses are found, then two
patterns extracted from MtE itself are searched for. This should detect
new viruses using MtE for polymorphism in the cases when the decryptor
    has null effect.

We have tested CatchMtE against thousands of Pogue and Dedicated/Fear
mutations in our lab. It achieved 100% hit rate in all cases. If you find
a mutation that it fails to recognize, please contact us so that we can
determine the cause and make the necessary corrections to the program.

CatchMtE is NOT a general virus scanner. It only looks for MtE-based
viruses. If you would like to search your disks for other viruses as well,
you should obtain a scanner such as F-PROT, SCAN, VIREX or VDSFSCAN, all
of which are available via anonymous FTP at various sites. They can look
for hundreds of other known viruses.

    Requirements:

IBM/PC compatible computer with DOS 3.0 or higher
       128K of available memory
Booting from floppy diskette is also required

    Limitations:

Only the files with COM or EXE extension are checked. If the file
size is less than 1K, it will be skipped as well.
Subdirectories are scanned recursively. It does not check one single
file. To scan a drive, you must specify the root directory (e.g. C:\).

   Harri,

   I just uploaded to garbo.uwasa.fi

ACD210.ZIP ChDir FAST; more features than LCD/NCD & FREE

This replaces ACD201.zip. The most important changes are: SUBSTed drives
and network mappings are recognized; configuration is simplified by a
configuration utility; how to act when an "unknown directory" is
   encountered is extended.

In detail, see the revision history below.

ACD is a program designed to have all the features I liked about LCD and
NCD, and to have the features that I found were missing in these
   programs: ACD ...

   - can display the paths graphically,
   - can search multiple drives (like LCD),
   - has a popup-window size dependent on the number of selected directories,
   - can locally add/remove directory information (handy for network users),
   - has the directory information sorted (even after updates),
   - has a `Speed Search' when selecting directories from pop-up window,
   - has a best guess when pathname is incorrectly spelled (like NCD),
   - has the possibility to remove the current directory (like NCD),
   - has the possibility to rename a directory, even on network drives,
   - remembers the last 20 directory changes,
   - is Desqview aware,
   - knows about SUBSTed drives and Network mappings

... and much more. This program is FREE of charge.

   Revision History:

   version 2.10, Aug. 1, 1992
     - added a configuration program for ACD; the patch-files (*.P22) are now
       obsolete, but included for completeness.
     - the switches can be set without toggling, by adding a digit; 0 means OFF,
1 means ON. E.g. the /c toggle can be set to be ON by /c1, independent of
the previous value. The toggle method still works however.
     - added ACD /[q]recreate, which re-creates the ACD database based on all
drives mentioned in the ACD database.
     - scanning from the pop-up window now ensures that the information of
unknown directories is removed from the ACD database.
     - speeded up scanning from popup-window.
     - changed "add unknown directories" option: specifying /u[x], or the /u
       switch x times, with x=
0: (/u0) do not add unknown directories to ACD database
1: (/u1) add when parent is in the ACD database
2: (/u2) add when parent is in the ACD database, and add also all
	    subdirectories.
3: (/u3) if parent is NOT in the ACD database, go back until parent is
in ACD database; scan for directories starting from this directory.
4: (/u4) rescan complete drive (if this drive is in the ACD database)

     - ACD now recognizes substituted drives (using SUBST or ASSIGN) and network
drives. If D: is a substed drive of C:\PROGS, you now no longer need to
scan D:, as ACD will use the information of the C: drive (in particular
C:\PROGS). Even if you create, rename or remove directories using the
substituted drive, the ACD.IDX file will be properly updated. ACD will
only show the information on the substituted drives if you explicitly give
the drive on the commandline, or use the /c option.
Because ACD now recognizes these substitutions, ACD /create (or /add, etc)
will not scan the directories of substed or assigned drives, nor will it
scan double network drive information, unless explicitly specified on the
       commandline.
     - Added possibility to call an External program using ALT-E, for example
COMMAND.COM, DF.com or 4FILES.com; see patches on how to proceed.
     - Changed errorlevel-codes on a special request of the author of 4FILES.
     - Because a dash could also be a switch character (undocumented), changing
to directories containing a dash did not work properly. Fixed.
     - ACD == and ACD =<number> would not work when /s option was specified.
       Fixed.
     - ACD <drive> now follows the /0 switch applied to this drive, instead of
changing to the root directory of <drive>.

   Dear Harri,

I just uploaded NCDC150.ZIP to garbo:

   <MSDOS.FILUTL>
   NCDC150 .ZIP fast XX/UU de/encoder for DOS/VAX/UNIX w/C src

This might wel be called YADE (yet another de/encoder), so why NCDC?
o NCDC is completely free, and comes with C source code.
o NCDC is written in ANSI C, with conditional code sections
for old style (K&R) headers, Unix and VAX/VMS.
o NCDC has the decoder and encoder in one program, and
is fairly intelligent: it knows when to decode or encode,
and, when decoding, which method to use.
o NCDC is efficient: it is nearly as fast as assembler versions.
o Unlike many other decoders, NCDC gives warning messages if
something unexpected is found. NCDC can glue broken lines.

Good day to you, prof Salmi and Harri,

   I have just uploaded rfm100.zip and 5gifut21.zip.
Rfm100.zip is a very extensive filemanager that I
   wrote .
5gifut21.zip is the newest version of 6gifutils.
I integrated 2 gifutils into one, so that the package
contains the same utils as before.
Rfm100 is put available as shareware, 5gifut21 is FREE.

			    Greetings, Rob

   Dear Harri,

I just uploaded HPP103.ZIP to garbo:

   <MSDOS.LASER>
HPP103 .ZIP Print text & PCX files: multicolumn,2-sided,HP

HPP is a print utility for Hewlett Packard (tm) compatible
laser printers. It facilitates printing of more than one
column of text, either in landscape, or in portrait orien-
tation. As a default it will print two columns in landscape,
using the small internal lineprinter font. HPP can also print
PCX files in four different resolutions. HPP does not support
gray levels, but can print many PCX files on one page.

   Hi,

I have uploaded the archive clk226.zip to the pc/incoming directory
at garbo. The archive contains a TSR which will display the time
and date in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

The following is a brief description:

	Clk226.zip Description

System requirements: On board real time clock
CGA or better (i.e. a color monitor)

Clk226 is a TSR which will display the time and date in the upper
right hand corner of the screen. The color of the display may be
   changed with an install program.

Also included is a non-TSR, command line version which reports the time,
date, and day of the week.

The programs contained within the archive, clk226.zip, are FREEWARE and
may not be sold under any condition.

   Thanks,

AMSPEL20.ZIP Checks and corrects ASCII or TeX text files

amSpell A spell checker for ASCII and (La)TeX files
   ===================================================

amSpell is basically a spell checker for plain ASCII files, with some
special features for dealing with TeX files.

The basic idea behind this program is to make spell checking easier by

   *  providing the context of the possibly misspelled word;
   *  offering alternatives;
   *  offering facilities for editing the word;
   *  automatically replacing wrong words by the indicated words;
   *  learning new words.

   amSpell is FREE of charge.

The easy to use interface actually lets the user keep track of
employees using a full database, enter jobs, and enter specific work
times. You may even schedule for multiple weeks.

Version 2.01 adds data encryption, password protection (US only),
macro capability, enhanced printing, support for holidays, and much
   more!

There are now three different versions of SupremeSched:

Extended - Keep track of multiple possible employee work times.
	      (ie 6-8, 12-4, etc)

Normal - Only one set of employee work times (ie 6-8)

Lite - Does not include the automatic scheduling or verification
feature. Useful for those who do not need such power.

   To Harry

I have just uploaded PCXDUMP Version 6.0 to /pc/incoming

   ------------------- Short description ------------------------------------

PCXDMP60.ZIP TSR to dump EGA, (S)VGA screens to PCX-files

   ------------------- Long description

PCXDUMP is a program which saves the images on the screen of your
IBM Personal Computer or compatible PC to a disk file.
PCXDUMP is memory-resident, which means that having executed it once,
the program is always waiting in the background, while you con-
tinue to run other programs. You tell PCXDUMP to capture the image
currently displayed on the screen by pressing a combination
of keys which PCXDUMP reserves for itself.

9 GOOD REASONS TO USE PCXDUMP
   -----------------------------

THE PRICE - PCXDUMP will cost you only 25.00 $.

THE SIZE - PCXDUMP will use only 10.4 Kb of
conventional memory (and no EMS or XMS).

THE SPEED - ALL pixels are written/read directly in to the
video memory and hence really fast!

SUPER-VGA - PCXDUMP recognizes a large number of SuperVGA
chips, and is able to use their resolutions
			 as well.

EASY TO INSTALL - PCXDUMP can be installed with a on-screen menu
where you can install PCXDUMP the way you prefer.
In the menu you can change things as:
the hotkey-sequence to activate PCXDUMP, where to
put the PCX-files, the type of your videocard
(PCXDUMP autodetects the videocard) and several
			 other features.

IT'S EASY TO USE - Just press the hotkey and use the mouse or
keyboard to choose which part of the screen
			 to save.
PCXDUMP dumps the images directly to the
			 PCX-format.

   - PCXDUMP offers several of ways of "delaying" the
installation. Read about it in "PCXDUMP INSTAL-
LATION". In short this means that you
are able to capture screens, which you
normally aren't be able to capture.

   - A lot of (particularly new) games push the EGA
or VGA-card to the limit and use undocumented
videomodes to get smooth scrool and smooth
			 animation. PCXDUMP recognizes these modes.
However, as the registers are write-only
(can't be read) on EGA-cards, PCXDUMP can
neither detect nor use these modes, unless you
			 have a least a VGA-card !

IT'S NOT CRIPPLED - And last, but not least. It's not crippled in
any way. PCXDUMP is is designed to capture
graphic screens and will work with no limita-
tions in graphics modes.. But if you register
PCXDUMP, you will get the "text capturing"
			 function as a bonus !

   WHAT PCXDUMP CAN CAPTURE
   ------------------------

PCXDUMP is capable of capturing graphic images on systems equipped
with any of the following video display adapters:

   *  Multicolor Graphics Adapter (MCGA)
   *  Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA)
   * Video Gate Array adapter (VGA)

And if you have any of these SVGA-cards, you are able to use
    their SVGA-modes as well!

     - ATI-WONDER (up to 1024x768x256,
			      640x480x32768)
     - TRIDENT (up to 1024x768x256)
     - GENOA (up to 1024x768x16, 800x600x256)
     - PARADISE (up to 1024x768x256,
					      800x600x32768)
     - TSENG ET 3000 (up to 1024x768x16, 800x600x256)
     - TSENG ET 4000 (up to 1024x768x256)
     - TSENG HiColor (up to 1280x1024x16,
			      1024x768x256

			(incl. 720x540x16, 720x540x256)
     - CHIP & TECH. (up to 1024x768x16, 800x600x256)
     - AHEAD A/B (up to 1024x768x256)
     - VESA CARDS (up to 1280x1024x256)

   HOT-KEYS
   --------

When PCXDUMP is installed, these hotkeys can be used:

    ALT+SHIFT+C gives a 256 color PCX-file
ALT+SHIFT+E dumps the whole screen in 256 colors (dumps immediately)
    ALT+SHIFT+N gives a black/white PCX-file
ALT+SHIFT+R dumps the whole screen in black/white (dumps immediately)
    ALT+SHIFT+I gives a inverted black/white PCX-file
ALT+SHIFT+G gives a 256 color PCX-file, where image is grayscaled
ALT+SHIFT+H gives a 256 color PCX-file, where image is inverted
		grayscaled
    ALT+SHIFT+T will dump a textscreen to a TXT-file

   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT'S NEW IN PCXDUMP VERSION 6.0
   ---------------------------------

For those who are curious, Version 6.0 of PCXDUMP
contains the following additions and improvements over
    previous versions

     - PCXDUMP is now menu-controlled. All options, such
as hotkeys and videoadapter can be seen and set on
screen. This means that it is very easy to compose a
complicated installation. It is still possible to
install PCXDUMP via "command line switches".
     - Two new hotkeys 'G' and 'H'. 'G' will convert
the image to a grayscale image (provided the
screen mode is color with at least 4 colors and
at most 256 colors). 'H' will produce an inverted
       grayscale image.
     - New option /WIDE. If a program uses smooth scroll
(that is, defines a virtual screen bigger than
physical display), e.g. the COMMANDER KEEN series,
you can set /WIDE, and PCXDUMP will try to dump the
virtual screen instead of the physical screen.
This option will not have any
effect on an EGA-card since registers on this card
       are write-only.
     - New option /AUTODUMP.This option will only have an
effect, if it's used in conjunction with either the
       /DISK or /TIME option.
If you install PCXDUMP with "/TIME=10 /AUTODUMP"
this is what happens: after 10 seconds PCXDUMP will
install it's own keyboard rutine and will immedia-
       tely start dumping the screen.
     - A small sound improvement. No matter how fast your
computer is, the beeps should now be of same the dura-
       tion as on slower PCs.
     - New option /INT=number. It is possible to use
PCXDUMP from another program. You specify here
which interrupt PCXDUMP must use, when called from
       another program.
     - New hotkey 'T'. This hotkey enables registered users
       to dump a textscreen to a text-file.

Herewith is the cache test program CT42.ZIP. There exists a later
version CT43, but the example of it that was on SIMTEL20 is
   broken.

There are two parts to this program which has been uuencoded
with uuexe515 which are called ct421.uue and ct422.uue.

This is an excellent cache tester, and gives very good results
especially if turning off interim video presentation to avoid
including the time taken. Also, when comparing cache programs
use files much greater than the cache buffer. Hyperdisk
shows up very well when compared in this way to other
   cache programs.

   Long description:

This is version 2.70 of the Supreme Utility. SUtil can perform
multiple copy/rename/move/delete operations on multiple files which
can be different for each operation. All of available memory is
used to boost the speed of the operations. SUtil is VERY FAST and
is perhaps the most flexible DOS utility you will ever find.
V2.70 adds the ability to check for enough disk space before
   performing the actual operation.
