Subject: garbo upload: VIRUSCAN V95 RELEASED
Status: OR

   Date: Tue, 25 Aug 92 20:50:53 PDT
   From: mcafee@netcom.com (McAfee Associates)
   X-Mailer: Mail User's Shell (7.2.3 5/22/91)

   I have uploaded to garbo.uwasa.fi:

   /pc/incoming:
   SCANV95B.ZIP VIRUSCAN V95-B system scanner for PC's
WSCAN95B.ZIP SCAN for Windows 3.X V95-B Windows version of VIRUSCAN
NETSC95B.ZIP NETSCAN V95-B network file server scanner
VSHLD95C.ZIP VSHIELD V95-C virus infection prevention TSR
   CLEAN95C.ZIP CLEAN-UP V95-C virus disinfection/removal tool

   WHAT'S NEW WITH VERSION 95

Version 95 of the VIRUSCAN (SCAN, CLEAN, VSHIELD, NETSCAN, and
WSCAN) series has been released, adding 99 new viruses, for a total of
685 viruses, or counting strains, 1,401.

	Version 95 replaces V93. A V94 was in beta-test, but we
discontinued it after reports of a Trojan horse "V94" from Monterrey,
Mexico. In order to prevent any confusion, we have skipped ahead to
   Version 95.

The current versions of the various programs are:

VIRUSCAN, NETSCAN, and WSCAN Version 95-B
   VSHIELD and CLEAN-UP Version 95-C

Older V95 (and 95-B) versions were NOT uploaded to SIMTEL20, Garbo, or
any other internet sites. V95 (the initial release) had a problem with
the /SAVE switch for all programs, and there were some message display
bugs in the VSHIELD and CLEAN-UP 95-B that required replacement with a
   95-C release.

One new option has been added to VSHIELD, the /NI6510 switch. This
switch fixes a conflict that occurs when VSHIELD is run on a PC with a
Racal-Datacomm NI6510 network interface card. This fix is specific to the
NI6510 and does not apply to any other product.

Validation data for the above with VALIDATE.COM is as follows:

   CLEAN-UP 95C (CLEAN.EXE) S:98,237 D:08-20-92 M1: BE92 M2: 02BB
   NETSCAN B95 (NETSCAN.EXE) S:77,976 D:08-19-92 M1: 5CFA M2: 1DC6

	   Dear Harri,

I have uploaded version 1.1 of my calendar printing utility YACPU to
       garbo's /pc/incoming directory. It's called YACPU11.ZIP.

Below is the same type of information that I sent to Keith Petersen.

If you have any questions, drop me a note.

				   Many thanks in advance,

   -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the description to be included in your announcement to the net:
   -------------------------------------------------------------------------
YACPU prints three kinds of planning calendars on an HP LaserJet III:

	   1. Six-month calendars for the first or second half of a year
	   2. Monthly calendars
	   3. Weekly calendars

Nine languages are currently supported (English, Swedish, German, French,
Spanish, Finnish, Norwegian, Italian and Latin).

YACPU prints an optional title at the top, names of the months, days of
the week, and week numbers. Sundays and other holidays are highlighted.
Optional day quotes are printed in the day boxes. YACPU also prints the
moon phases and optionally the times for them.

   Harri and Timo,

'Just uploaded (WORST101.ZIP) a utility I wrote, including source in C.

WORST.EXE locates the smallest, the largest, the oldest, and the newest
files on your disk. It also locates all empty directories. I find this
quite useful for locating zero-byte files, the file that eats up the
largest amount of my disk space, those files that have been around since
day 1, and those files just created or modified by some newly installed
   software.

You can specify a set of search pathspecs, including control of whether
or not to recursively search subdirectories. More in the file WORST.DOC.

   Enjoy!

   -Dan

I have uploaded WAF165.ZIP to garbo.uwasa.fi. This is the release version
of Waffle, version 1.65. Waffle is authored by Thomas Dell, and is a
complete bbs, usenet, and uucp package for MS-DOS. Waffle also contains
a file download area. Support for Waffle can be found in comb.bbs.waffle.
The software is offered as shareware.

Please let me know if you require more information.

   Greetings,

I have just uploaded Vsave191 to the pc/incoming directory
at garbo. The archive contains a VGA screen saver which I
have written called VGAsave which I am distributing as
   freeware.

The following is a brief description of VGAsave:

	     Vsave191.zip Description

Vsave191 is a FREEWARE VGA screen saver.

   System Requirements: VGA

   Features
   ========

	 - A hot key which can be used to blank the screen.

	 - Detects mouse movement in addition to the
keyboard to restore a blanked screen.

	 - User selected time out.

	 - User selected hot key.

	 - Help screen.

	 - On and off options to enable and disable the screen saver
once it is resident in memory.

	 - An interactive menu to control the screen saver after loading,
as well as, a command line interface.

	 - Minimal resident memory requirements -- 368 bytes to be exact.
	    Expanded/Extended memory is not required.

   Thank you.

XREF cross-references function/procedure declarations and calls
   in Turbo Pascal programs.

This version handles included files and forward declarations.
It replaces the earlier version in pc/turbopas/xref01.zip.

   xref10.zip contains:

	      size
   xref.pas 26,505 Pascal source code (TP5)
   xref.exe 17,600 executable
   xref.doc 6,513 manual

   Harry,
I uploaded ne110.zip before and sent you a mail about it. I just
discovered that there was a problem in the archive. I hope you have
   not put it out yet!
What I have just uploaded is the right archive.

      naked110.zip version 1.10 of NakedEye
      nakd102a.zip version 1.02a (revised version for 1.02)

Please replace the old archives with these two new archives.

Timo, I've placed the following files in your /pc/incoming directory:

FDRW225A.ZIP FLODRAW 2.25 Flowchart, Org. chart, LAN diagram; EXE.s
   FDRW225B.ZIP FLODRAW 2.25 LIB.s, examples, docs, help.
FDRW225U.ZIP Files to update FLODRAW 2.2 to 2.25.

If you already have 2.2, just get the update file to convert to 2.25.

I obtained this files from the author, and post them at his request, with
an abbreviated version of the "announce.txt" included in "225A" and "225U"
   appended to this note.

   ............................................................................

FLODRAW Update: Version 2.25 June, 1992

(This update is provided free to all FLODRAW 2.2 registered
users. All other users are urged to register.)

It's been well over a year since the release of version 2.2.
This update is the accumulation of enhancements and fixes to
problems reported by users. The update disk contains two
   program files: FLODRAW.EXE (version 2.25) and PLOPCX.EXE
(version 1.2). These are the only files that have changed
   with this release.

Here is the list of the enhancements and fixes provided in
   version 2.25.

New option to change printer port. This option was
provided for network users. Only the following printers
can use this option: HP Deskjet/LaserJet, Epson FX/MX
and Star Gemini. All other printers use LPT1.

Fix print problem using HP LaserJet with network print
spoolers. FLODRAW will now work with most network print
       spoolers

Fix print problem with HP Deskjet 500. The HP Deskjet
500 would sometimes skip lines when using the HP
LaserJet printer driver. A separate printer driver has
been added for the HP DeskJet to correct this problem

Fix text display problems when using MS-DOS 5.0 with a
different country code (a problem for some European
       users.)

Fix problems with the directory display on the entry
menu. This problem was only apparent if you had several
       hundred files in your directory.

Fix problem preventing landscape selection when creating
a new diagram. Some users got a help screen instead of
       landscape selection.

New version of FLOPCX (FLOPCX 1.2) converts FLODRAW
files to black and white PCX files to avoid problems
importing four color files into some desktop publishing
programs. The two color files have a CGA screen
resolution of 640X200. The four color conversion is
still retained as an optional parameter.

dates. It's an alternative to all those 'heavey-weight' Windows-
calendars. Features include multilingual support, add-option,
'list future dates'-option etc. It is practical to put a
DateDog-command in to the AUTOEXEC.BAT -file, so the
messages will be shown every time You boot Your PC.

MOUSE Handling Toolbox for Turbo Pascal 6.0 includes:

   Long description:
Armouse is a Turbo Pascal 6.0 mouse handling unit for
application programs. In comparison with another units this
     one gives you advantages:

     - simple and convenient program interface. Most units (e. g.
Turbo Professional TPMOUSE) simply gives you Pascal interface
to mouse support driver interrupt INT 33. This is a powerful
tool but rather complicated and not transparent one. This
unit provides a set of function to handle MOUSE and KEYBOARD
events in a similar way (as in MS Windows). From our point of
view simplicity and convenience of the event driven approach
well compensate a slight loss of flexibility compared to the
       custom INT 33 based technique.

     - for EGA or VGA adapters you may use GRAPHIC mouse cursor
(a'la NORTON UTILITIES 6.0) in TEXT videomode. A variety of
the mouse cursor shapes is supplied. When selected, the
graphic mouse cursor _smoothly_ moves through the screen.

       AMOUSE10.ZIP contains :

     - ARMOUSE.TPU
     - ARMOUSE.DOC with interface part of unit
     - DEMO.PAS
     - DEMO.INC
     - DEMO.EXE
     - ARMOUSE.REG

" UMB_DRVR.SYS is a DOS 5.0 device driver that will use the 'shadow
ram' capability of the memory controller portion of many chip sets to:
	 A) force all roms not specifically excluded to be shadowed, and
	 B) expand DOS base memory beyond 640KB if possible, and
	 C) provide UMBs ( Upper Memory Blocks ) to DOS for loading
programs and device drivers into upper memory
while *NOT* using any memory below 640K and remaining in *REAL* mode.
One advantage of this driver is that many if not all other device
drivers and TSR programs may be loaded 'high' including HIMEM.SYS ( even
though the DOS documentation says not! )." (quote from docs)

Status: OR

Today I have uploaded to pc/incoming:

WEXIT12E.ZIP - Windows Exit Button Version 1.20 (English)
Copyright (c) Kai-Uwe Herbing 1985-1992. All rights reserved.

This replaces Version 1.10 (WEXIT110.ZIP) and fixes a minor bug
in the About... dialog, which causes some text to be truncated
   with standard VGA resolution (640,480).
   Sorry for any inconveniance caused.

Windows Exit Button is a tiny program, which draws a bitmap
button on the desktop, which shows an open door. To exit
Windows, click on it with the left mouse button, the door
closes and Windows will exit. To move it, drag it with the
right mouse button to its new position. To see the About...
dialog, where you optionally can configure, if the Windows
Exit Button should be Always on Top, double click on it with
the right mouse button. The position and configuration of the
Windows Exit Button are automatically saved to and retrieved
from its private profile file WINEXIT.INI.
