[This file is ./TeX3.141/LaTeX/NOTE-LaTeX,
for users of the Unix TeX distribution.

 July 1994]

Only the ./distribs/latex directory tree remains.

  drwxr-sr-x 2 UnixTeX 512 Sep 2 1993 verbatim

contributors. The packages array, doc, ftnright, multicol,
theorem and verbatim are all available in LaTeX2e, and were
specifically designed for this system. NFSS2 is built into
LaTeX2e

If you have completed the default WEB-to-C compilation,
you have already made and installed both LaTeX and SliTeX.

If you are new to these programs, you may find the file
	./distribs/latex/general/latex.ins
to be interesting and helpful.

If you are not new to them, you may still wish to give a quick
glance through the "News" section near the beginning of
./distribs/latex/general/latex.ins to see what became new with the
25 March 1992 distribution.

If you are updating your LaTeX, please read the beginning of
./distribs/latex/fonts/README.

The files in ./distrib/latex are the basic, canonical, LaTeX
files by Leslie Lamport. The directories parallel to
./distribs/latex (doc, multicol, theorem, verbatim, and array)
are considered part of the current official LaTeX distribution.
We have, for the convenience of our users, generated the
input and documentation files associated with these environments.
If you have completed your web2c installation of TeX, then the
input files have already been copied into your TEXINPUTS directory
by our makefile.prep.

We have not, however, generated the input and documentation files
for the nfss and psnfss material which have now been merged into
a single nfss2 package (./distribs/nfss2.tar.gz). The new
font-selection scheme will be a part of LaTeX 3, and is being
tested and used at many LaTeX sites.

(To unpack ./distribs/nfss2.tar.gz, in ./distribs:

	zcat nfss2.tar.gz | tar xf -

The "zcat" in this command line is part of the gzip pkg,
 in ../../archive-tools.)
