This is file ls35nfss/INSTALL dated 2 July, 1994

The directories in this collection contain the
files necessary for LaTeX2e use of the fonts in the
"standard" 35-font set on most PostScript laser-printers.
They have been set up for quick installation into
a $TEXMFROOT tree

Once installed, these files make it possible to say

     \usepackage{times} or \usepackage{palatino}

in a LaTeX2e document. Certain of the style files such
as times.sty call for more than the one face. Times.sty
uses times for seriffed text, helvetica for sans-serif text
and courier for typewriter text. Inspection of such files
will suggest how to make modified versions of them
for other choices as needed.

For a full list of files see texmf/lw35nfss/README

To install:

[If you are still using LaTeX209, first save your present
$TEXMFROOT/tex/latex by moving it to $TEXMFROOT/latex209
     and then install LaTeX2e]

Create the directory $TEXMFROOT/latex209/dvips and move the
old-style <typeface>.sty files from $TEXMFROOT/dvips to there.
The files in question are:

       avantgarde.sty bookman.sty chancery.sty
       ncs.sty palatino.sty times.sty

Unix quick installation:

If you are using a TDS-conformant $TEXMFROOT tree such as
/usr/local/lib/texmf, make sure that $TEXMFROOT is a known
environment, cd into the texmf directory of this package,
and tar each of the four directories in this collection into
  $TEXMFROOT

  tar cf - ./tex ./fonts ./dvips ./doc | ( cd $TEXMFROOT ; tar xvf - )

Alternatively, you can move this package
into the parent directory of texmf on your system
  (e.g., /usr/local/lib)
and extract the texmf directory of this package directly,
  in a single operation.

DOS installation:

(To be supplied by someone who knows)

Discard or archive this package.

You should now be ready to \usepackage{<typeface>} in your
LaTeX documents.
