Subject: [UK] Flying sites in Scotland.

Having now been living in Scotland for a year I've had no real success in
finding a good flying site. Perhaps because I didn't have enough time to
go flying last year but......

I intend to make time this year and am looking for suggestions on good
sites. I live in Hamilton so anywhere within a couple of hours drive of
there would be okay.

Awaiting advice with anticipation.

Hi Neil,

I lived in Edinburgh for several years, the last couple of which I was
into kites. There is a scottish kite club which meets every second
week, alternating between the east and west coasts. I can't remember
where the west coast site is, but it was probably close to glasgow and
therefore close to you. The east coast site was/is St Andrews, which
has some beautiful windswept beaches.

If you find yourself in Edinburgh, there are sometimes fliers in
Holyrood Park, behind the palace. I usually flew on Blackford Hill,
by the Royal Observatory - Clean air and great views!

I don't unfortunately have a contact for the scottish kite club, but you
can find out about them from Wind Things in Edinburgh (I think there is
also a store in Glasgow)

Happy Flying

Bruce

Thanks for the pointers. Unfortunately Wind Things in Glasgow has closed
:-( but a trip to Edinburgh is on the cards :-)

As to the club details, it probably won't hurt o check out the KSGB web
page.

Regards
Neil.
