There was a good turnout from some of the kite fraternity, Paul Chapman, us, Barry Pitman, Tony Baker, Ron Dell, Nick Morse and Martin Lester. ALso present was Ali from The Drachen Foundation as well as Ben Ruhe. Also present were a number of Cody's descendants. A rough approximation results in about 280,000 UK Pounds being the total for the sale. It was the kite articles that far exceeded their guide price - eg Collection of Photographic kite Plates - Guide 550 - 750 UKP realised price 2800 UKP. The aviation articles were less popular with many going for less than the guide price. It was nice to see that most of the kite related articles went to kiteflying people and it was especially nice to see most of the documentary type articles, photos, written reports etc going to The Drachen Foundation. So they won't be lost to the kite world. The dearest Cody Kite went for 2800 UKP. It didn't look flyable to us but then who said we are experts!! -- The Kite Society of Great Britain = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
