Fair point about the kids always asking what it costs.
The last time some kids did that to me I was flying my stack of there 6
foot flexis, and said their true value after being coy for the first five
times of being asked.

The kids then waited for me to land it then promptly started dragging
them off the field - leaving me to hang onto my kites by the line
(V.V.Painful!) - I won and ran upto them and had to stop myself doing
something foolish when I cornered them.

Moral - NEVER admit to kites being worth more than a tenner or use the
'it was just a present' excuse with kids - it always works. Failing that
lie, say that they are on special offer in woolworths for 5.99 each and
see the little **ggers off the field pronto!
