We are fortunate to have a couple of really good kite shops here in
Seattle. There is Gasworks Park Kite Shop, near (strangely enough)
Gasworks Park on the north end of Lake Union. Phone is (206)
633 4780. Owned by Kathy Goodwind, they carry a good selection,
with a slight emphasis towards stunters.
Also worth checking out is Great Winds Kite Shop, located just
north of the Kingdome in the Pioneer Square are. Phone is (206)
624 6886. Owned by Ken Conrad and Suzanne Sadow, their speciality
is Chinese kites. They are certainly one of the largest, if not
the largest, importers of Chinese kites. They also have a full
selection of all types of kites.
There are also Four Winds Kites in Everett and Mainframe Kite Shop
in Tacoma if you're closer to either of these locations.
One thing we are short on here is good flying areas. There is "Kite
Hill" in Magnuson Park on Lake Washington.(until we lose it to the
dogs!)My wife and I fly at Marymoor Park in Redmond. I understand
some areas of Discovery Park are good. The best bet is to drive
to Westport or Ocean Shores for the weekend.
Email me for more info. Also, I recommend joining the WKA or SCI-FI for
their newletters on local events.
Good luck, and good winds,

P.S. Do you fly fighters?
