Subject: Kites to Auction I have a number of kites I would like to auction off. Lets set some ground rules first. I will post a beginning bid at the end of each kite description. I would like to start the bidding at this price, but since I am not an expert on the value of the kites in the open market I will accept any bid, but I reserve the right to refuse any bid below the posted one. The auction will end promptly January 31, 1996 at 12:00 midnight est. Since I don't receive some messages up to two days after their post date I will wait until February 3 to evaluate the bidding and use the post date on the messages for verification of posting, please guys be honest. If no one has any objections lets keep the bidding prices here following this thread. Lets keep the posts short, just list the name of the kite and your bid. If you have any questions about the kites you may e-mail me. I will ship the winning bid COD plus $5 to cover shipping charges. All kites are in good shape. No rips in sail. The kites: Maxi Edge Ultralight Ripstop Polyester Sail Wrapped Graphite 112 2-8 mph 1.5 year old starting $75 ========== Pro Spectrum Pro Cheetah Carrington Sail Beman 5.5 105 2-20 mph 1.5 year old starting $40 ========== Stranger Carrington Sail 6mm Carbon Fiber 98.5 4-20 mph 6 months old starting $80 ========== Flexi Foil 10 Includes ultra light spar 1 year old starting $100 ========== Flexi Foil 8 1 year old starting $75 ========== Flexi Foil 6 Includes ultra light spar 1 year old starting $75 Mike mawood@serv01.net-link.net = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 10 Jan 1996 14:04:55 -1000 From: mawood@serv01.net-link.net (Mike Wood) Message-Id: <30f45357.1169463@nntp.net-link.net> Organization: NetLink Systems, LLC. After checking into a couple of shipping charges to address out of the USA the charges were more the price of the kite. Shipping to Europe by air mail is usually less then $20,- I didn't find any item at your auction lower then that. When the receiver pays for the shipping he will surely know what he does (and why). So I personally can't see any good reason to exclude the rest of the world >From the auction. The shipping charge that I was refering to was S. Africa. I called UPS and the charge to send to there was $168. I have requested an international shipping charge rate book and I have yet to receive it, so in the interest of all I decided to just include the US until I had more solid information about the shipping charges for the other parts of the world. Now if the buyer would like to pay shipping then I would have no problem with shipping any where in the world, but since I did offer to pay shipping I think I had better draw the line somewhere, I mean I would like to sell the kites but I really don't want to take a beating either, I was hoping most people would understand this. But as I said if someone was really interested in a kite and willing to cover the shipping charges that are over $5 that I offered that would be fine. It all boils down to a lack of realizing the shipping charges outside of the US. I will just have to be more alert in the future.
