I am interested in power kites and was wondering if there are any
buggy or boaters out there that fly in the Toronto/Southern Ont. area.
I would be interested in getting together with you to at least watch and
learn from you while I save up for my own kite and buggy/boat.

thanks,

toy

Well, there are.
Yuo will want to try to reach Mark Groshens at the Toronto Kite Fliers.
He is listed in the phone book of Cambridge. I don't have his phone #
on me right at the moment though.
The club usually flies at Humber bay park (I think). It is the park located
south of the 427 hwy (the one that begins at the Pearson Int'l Airport.
They fly right at the edge of the lake just about every time there's wind.
There are also regular flys in Kitchener at the Bingerman campground every
third Sunday of the month (from memory). You may contact Ed Hummel in Kitchener
or Hummel woodworking in Waterloo for more info... (I still don't have their
phone # with me at the moment).

But for buggies, your best bet is stil with the Toronto Kite Fliers.
There are kiting events every weekend (and plenty to choose from) so look
arround, and if you see or hear about kites, stop. Somebody will know how to
reach the TKF club.

Good luck and tight lines!

This is not really the case anymore. Over the years Humber Bay has
been the one site where we most often flew, but as the club has
grown and dispersed it has become a base for only a few regulars.

The best site in the Toronto area is Waterfront Park in Ajax. It's
large enough to buggy in, have competitions, and also setup single
line fields.

...gotta get that sig line figured out one of these days!
