Rev 1.5 - Line lengths?

I'm now the proud owner of a Revolution 1.5 :-)

Unfortunately I'm currently without the instructions for it :-(

So can anyone assist me by letting me know the recommended line lengths
(and breaking strains, if important).

Thanks in advance.
Neil.

If this is your first quad-line kite, I would suggest somewhere
between 75 to 100 feet. The extra length will give you more airspace
to fly in and more time to recover when you find yourself heading
straight for the ground at full tilt! Remember, when upside down and
in trouble, push both thumbs forwards. This will cause the kite to
stop and/or back up into the sky. Start by learning to fly the kite
straight up, stop and hover, then back it down to a smooth, 2-point
landing. Once you've mastered the basics, you can fly on as little as
20 ft. of line, but be aware that things happen very quickly.

Line strength should be 150 lb on all four lines above 8 mph or beyond
60 ft. On shorter lines or in lower winds you can get away with 90 lb
test (as long as there are no big gusts). Use only Spectra/Dyneema
line, sleeved, with all four the same length.

Have fun,

Gary

I got one last year and it came with 80# Spectra lines at about 80
feet. I also had the option of getting 150# Spectra for stronger winds.
I believe the line set was for the Rev I; it came with handles and a
Rev I video.

I have had *no* problems flying it with the 80#, and 80 - 90 feet seems
pretty good. I have talked to others who fly on 40 foot lines!

Gary

Thank you for such an excellent reply. Now to go put in into practice.

Regards
Neil.

Thanks for the information. Based on the advice so far received I took it
out today and flew it on 150# Spectra at 100ft. It behaved very well
considering the slightly high wind conditions. I was a tad nervous
considering the ultra light spars but it coped.

I have so 75ft 80# lines that I'm going to try it on to see what difference
they make.

As with all things kite, this seems to be a case of taking it slowly and
experimenting. The only thing I regret is not buying one sooner!

Neil.

When I bought my REV 1.5 I didnt have any instructions/lines/handles for
it, the store didnt have any of them, but i already had all that with the
previous revs 8-)

Would be nice to have the videos bundled with the kites in the uk as
well, save having to pay extra to get them mail order

I have only ever flown my revs (1, 1.5 and 2) on 80 pounds dyneema, and
found this to be more than adequate for all flying conditions.

For line lengths I use 50' for normal flying and 20 foot for 3d etc.

I have considered getting some 75-100' lines for the rev 1 as it seems a
little cramped when flying with the 50' lines 8-)
