Just curious all;

Besides side-to-side lengths on the bridles being equal, are there any adjustments
to the bridles on a REV II kite that are ever necessary or recommended? It would seem
not, since the flier has control over the kite's angle relative to the wind. I ask because
I don't seem to have the speed I'd like outta my REV, and backwards flying is, in my
case, all but impossible. I'm sure I'd be more impressed with the smaller REV, but
you'd better be a good salesman!

Make sure your top lines have not stretched. They probably have, and that
acts like you have shortened the bottom lines. Use knotted leaders on top
and bottom of handles to larkshead the lines to. This will allow you to
adjust the lines quickly. The Rev II is a pretty fast kite in decent
winds. Try flying on 25-35-45-55 foot line sets. The shorter the line/the
faster it moves across your window.

You can check that the bridle is symmetric. Have seen some in the past
that were wrong. If it is, and you don't want to retie it, call the Rev
boys at 1.800.382.5132.

Fly your rev on spectra/dyneema(50-80#), and use the "stock" kevlar lines
as bridles for the fighter kites that you will be building soon.

other posted advise was good ...

Also , IF you want to fly backwards faster, try Magic Sticks
They are braces the T into the center of upright spars and
allow lots of neato Rev trix and stuff. Not the least of
which is speedy, no stall, reverse flight.

I haven't flown a faster quad than Rev II.
Of course I'm way over the hill and "fast" is a relative term

OK. I've got my Rev II and 4 lines, carefuly measured out at 25, 35, 45 and
55 feet. I still can't get it to fly right (it just wants to flop sideways).

Am I doing something wrong? Does it matter which line I connect to which
handle?

No Andrew, you're not doing anything wrong. You just need really long arms and
handles for those lines.. :-)

Geez,

I got all my 4 lines measured at 30 ft., not 25, 35, 45, and 55 ft. No wonder
I couldn't get the Rev to flop around.

Andrew: the four lines must have the same length, all of them. It does not matter
whether they are 25 or 35 or 45 or 55 feet long, they must have identical lengths.

If you come to Fanoe this year, I can show you how to fly a revII.

Take care

Bernhard

Andrew,

No, don't worry about connecting the lines to the handles. This is
usually the first mistake beginners make. The kite's performance is 100
predictable as long as the lines are not connected to the handles. Once
you hook them up, it becomes much more difficult to control the kite.

Cheers, George

Thanks to all for the response to my REVII bridle question. I knew I'd draw
some fire from the peanut gallery too, which is all the more fun! What a
hoot, eh?

I am curious about the Magic Sticks(supports for the uprights...oh baby!), and have
yet to see them on the market. Certainly a GOOD idea! Anyone know where....?

Hopefully, putting the advise into practice will allow me to appreciate the REVII a
bit more... I by far enjoy flying my 2 line kites more than the quad since they still
can suprise me!

Stay High!
